Ok, you just had a nice breakfast and some great coffee at your hotel.....You can now make your way to Villa Borghese. First go to Flaminio stop. Walk up and you will find Piazza Del PopoloBy the time you arrive you will be hungry. You can have a picnic in the park before going to the museum. Remember, the food inside the park is low quality and made only for tourists.Since the Museum is near Piazza Del Popolo, walk to the top exit of the Popolo circle- directly across from the park. You will find a Burger King restaurant (with free toilets) Cross the street and walk straight a little ways and you will find one of THE BEST pizza places with high quaility take out pizza (by the slice). They will wrap it up for you and give you napkins. On the way to the park you will pass a wine shop. You can pick up a bottle of good Italian table wine for about 7 Euros. Now....go to the park and have lunch. After lunch you can make your way to the museum. Get your ticket and ENJOY!Do not miss the Caravaggio's!! You will be amazed at how Bernini could turn marble into living flesh! One of the best days of your life, I promise~!
Toured this after an overnigth flight from the US with Lavinia from Rome Private Guides. She was excellent and kept 4 very jeg lagged people interested in the history and art work collected by the Borgehese family. If you can, make time to spend in the park. Our daughter is a runner and ran the park in the early morning and she said it was beautiful
Great park, not just the usual paths, cafes, lake etc but this one has a zoo, some very opulent, palatial buildings and guys who hire put golf buggy cars and segways. See Claudio and get a segway for 10 euro half hour or 15 euro full hour with quick demo lesson at beginning, this experience would cost several times more than this in UK.
Villa Borghese is a large landscape garden in the naturalistic English manner in Rome, containing a number of buildings, museums (see Galleria Borghese) and attractions. It is the third largest public park in Rome (80 hectares or 148 acres) after the ones of the Villa Doria Pamphili and Villa Ada. The gardens were developed for the Villa Borghese Pinciana ("Borghese villa on the Pincian Hill"), built by the architect Flaminio Ponzio, developing sketches by Scipione Borghese, who used it as a villa suburbana, a party villa, at the edge of Rome, and to house his art collection. The gardens as they are now were remade in the early nineteenth century.
This beautiful park is a welcome break from the touristy parts of Rome. Easy to get to on the subway and highly enjoyable for kids- and big kids!Play equipment, the lake, some rides, go carts and quad bikes ensure there is something for all. Good fun for all ages
Beautiful park in Rome is the perfect place to escape the hussle and bussle of the city. Recommend you rent a row boat in the park which is $3 per person for 20mins, its a little something different to add to a romantic stroll.
