This is an amazing day out and I couldn't speak highly enough of it. From grandma to my 3 year old we all loved it. It was amazing being that close to lions, a little sad they didn't have baby's this year but still worth every cent. Amazing views. This place made memories my family will never forget.
A great place to visit with young children who would enjoy feeding the fish and animals. It is in a truly beautiful setting with bush walks and something to see around every corner. The lions are in a separate enclosure and I don't really like seeing lions in that environment although they look healthy and contented. We were certainly able to see them up close which is not often possible in many zoos. We were not there for feeding time but I am sure that would be entertaining.
Was such a pleasure to walk around the reserve at our own pace and take in the beauty nature had to offer. Such an easy layout to follow and up-and-close interaction with the animals. Would be perfect for the kids. The Lion feeding was great to watch as well. Thanks to the friendly staff. (Sorry forgot the name) the front desk lady was exceptionally helpful and informative. Would definitely come back
Difficult to find! GPS from Google or Mapquest doesn't even acknowledge arrival here. A couple of roads split without directional signs. So beware! But, when you do get there it is a very nice park. The lions are magnificent! The rest of the park is well defined and especially highlights the natural river where wild trout can be seen and headed towards spawning. Also the water bottling operation, with the bottle fill station above was a highlight. If you can find it!
A beautiful place with a lovely walk through various wildlife. Well worth a visit, but it is a little on the expensive side!
Came here a few weeks ago with my family gift shop was cool cafe disappointing 30$ a adult absolute rip of the grounds need much more looking after toilet where clean walked around place needs good water blasting place feels dirty .nothing great at all about the place won't b back again
I have been to pretty much every wildlife/farmyard/zoo in the North Island and this one has to be the best layout I've ever seen. Everywhere you look is so beautiful it belongs in a picture on your wall at home. The wild birds are even quite tame as we got within touching distance of a Kea as it sat there posing for pictures. We were lucky to not even see another person there until the end which meant we saw more of the wildlife. We got there at 10.30 am which was between two bus loads of tourists, perfect timing.
The lions were amazing to see and we were able to get so close to them partitioned by only a fence with another unimposing electric barrier, it's a reminder that these are hunters and kings of the jungle. These creatures are beautiful and it amazing to see and hear the hierarchy in terms of their feeding etc. The main male lets out a roar and despite the meat thrown in the direction of another, they will retreat, it is there unspoken respect for the boss, amazing to witness! My children and I had fun seeing the other animals especially the pigs and donkey, I couldn't sworn he was smiling at us (like the real toothy grin) and pleading for food that we were strictly pre warned not to give. Another highlight was accessing the spring water which was honestly beautiful to drink. I only wish I had more bottles to fill and take back to the motel with us. However, everything in moderation and respect for the land etc right! A lovely peaceful time to spend with my kids again perfect timing because we did this trip after offpeak from the school holidays.
Although we misread the time for lion feeding there was nothing to hold our attention while we waited For what we did see we felt the price was exorbirant and only the wild ducks ate our feed as the few trout that were there were not interested. The farm animals were also uninteresting as they were not interested in coming anywhere near us, just laying around watching us like we were in the zoo. We finally found a couple of kangaroos who likewise werent very interesting. The viewing glass was so murky you couldnt see much there either and we only found 1 eel. On the whole not a wonderful time and I would be hard put to recommend it to anyone
Good place to spend weekend or family day!Beautiful scenery, good guided tour as well!Worth visiting!
