Loved the beautiful farm-like property. They have built a lovely tasting room with lots of wood and comfortable tasting areas. Our wine host, Dana, did a superb job taking us through our wine tasting experience and then touring us around the property. We enjoyed the wines very much. Add this to your list if you are in the area.
This is a great winery with beautiful grounds. The $25 tour is well over an hour, extremely informative, and you get to enjoy 4 delicious wines along the way. Up close and personal in the vineyards, organic garden, barrel room/building and ending at the 2nd floor of the historic red barn on the property. the views of the property from the 2nd floor are great. There is an very friendly dog on the property that likes to play in the vineyards and go on tour with you.
great choice, a beautiful place with some original details anda great decortion, great place to visit!!
Our inn in napa booked us a reservation here, highly recommending as her favourite winery! Well what a treat!! We sat out in their patio and tasted 6 generous pours of wine each with cheese, soaking up the atmosphere and scenery. Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon were all wonderful. They have great grounds with lovely trees, a chicken coup and tangerine trees (you are encouraged to grab a tangerine and eat it). This was definitely the highlight of all of the vineyards we went to, would highly recommend
With Frog's Leap's large barn, animals, abundant gardens, and organic approach it's very easy to see that winemaking has farming at its roots. That's what made Frog's Leap the perfect place to visit with our teenagers. The grape growing and winemaking process was discussed artfully and scientifically. Our whole group was engaged throughout.Make no mistake this is not an attraction for running around but if your kids can handle it, Frog's Leap can more than handle your kids. The wines rival all of their pricier Rutherford neighbors. Extra credit credit is given for their longstanding insistence on organic practices and old world approach to natural irrigation.A five star experience for this wine loving family. Wines priced to buy and savor as lasting reminders of visit.
Frog's leap was the first winery we visited on our trip to Napa. After 3 wine tastings in Napa we kept referring back to Frog's Leap. The scenery was beautiful, they actually explained about Rutherford wines, and allowed us to tour the winery holding a glass of our favorite pour. They served us cheese and crackers and the atmosphere was both accommodating and welcoming. They even made dinner suggestions as we were leaving. We were disappointed with Napa and felt like it was a bit of a tourist trap but Frog's Leap is worth the reservation and your time. Lovely spot. They even have blankets if you are cold!
I've now taken multiple trips to Napa Valley and still find Frog's Leap the best. It might be the sustainable philosophy that John Williams maintains, it might the the vibe that the staff gives it, or maybe it is just the great wine - whatever it is it is grand. Will continue to make sure to stop there on other trips.
Up front, we did;t go for a tasting and hadn't reserved. However they did off us some tasters of the wines and we had a walk around the gardens. All really nice and very organic/relaxed. It was very busy and clearly popular as there was a sign saying they were full for tastings. We bought 3 bottles and a gift box. Shame they had no large t shirts so I'll just have to go back in a few months.
I will make time to be at Frog's Leap every time I am in the area! The experience is always superb. We had to change our Tour & Tasting last minute to just a Tasting because my husband broke his leg. They were very understanding and accommodating. We sat on the porch and enjoyed wines brought to us by Dana. We met Dana when we were here last August and were delighted to see her again. The wines at Frog's Leap are just plain yummy. The fact that they are all made organically just makes standing behind the wines easier. The setting and feeling you get while at Frog's Leap is one that has not been replicated by any other winery we have visited. This is just an amazing place to sit, drink good wine, have a conversation and enjoy the land.
Definitely get the view from the second floor of the barn and walk the property with a glass of wine.
