I was wondering, houses are quite normally cubic or cuboid- so what is "so special" about Cube Houses here? Well, I think it is a nice example of Imagination put to practice. Breaking the code, placing the cubes in an unusual pattern and exhibiting the beauty of 'abnormal' things. If you are not convinced about the innovation of these designs, then take a visit of inside. We did. 3 Euro and you can check out a house from inside. No country and no construction firm is behind others in working on efficient management of space, but these cubes will immediately tickle your brain. Architectural geniuses! So much light, so much coziness and still spacious.Totally worth it!
If you love architecture (like I do) this is a must see. You literally stand there and look at it and wonder how this really works... It's cute. Certainly worth a few pics!!
特殊的建筑结构,令人流连忘返,玩味许久。看着那一块块突出的建筑体,真的无法想像在里面的人站立在哪个墙面?
It was really interesting to me to see Kijk-Kubus.I have not seen anything like that.I'm still wondering how it looks inside.
Curious to see ... 1980s a nadir for design. Interesting to visit to see a very different approach to living. Loving light, views and space ... I had fun imagining how difficult it would be to live in this space. A concept which challenges rather than enhances living. Go see the museum for the interior ... photos of other residents living would be an eye opener to see how you can live successfully in this space! Exterior very shabby and requires some tlc. If you are unable to climb stairs you won't be able to access.
It was a bit extraordinary to see these houses fixed on one angle and look like hanging! nice to see
Apparently someone decided downtown Rotterdam was too boring and business orientated so the commissioned an architect to build these small yellow cube houses. One is open to the public for a small fee. Lots of stairs, cramped, weird angles, small windows with restricted view.Very Rotterdam: Interesting design, fun, but in this case not very practical. Worth a short visit as its next to Markthal.
It is a very cool design for a building. The visit of this house is very quick (10-20min) and the price is ok (3€). There are few floors with kitchen, living room, bedroom etc. It is nice to see this building from inside but, overall, it is nothing special and the spaces are very small. I recommend it for 2-3 people. If you are with more people, it is probably worth to just look at them from the outside.
This little village of cubed houses was beautiful, like you´ve stepped into a storybook. The location was randomly over a big traffic junction, next to the huge market, but to be able to go into one and have a poke around was quite cool. With our discount book from the Central Station (definitely get yourself one of those) we paid only a few euros which was fine. These cool houses are 100 square metres over 3 floors, I´d love to have one!
It is a very interesting design the way it was build. At 3 euros I find it very expensive at it takes less than 5 minutes to see everything. It is very old and dated inside the place. Not worth the price as it is more impressive from the outside.
