Great place for a hike. Beware of people smoking on the trail (?) but other than that, fantastic. Nice park staff.
We always love hiking up these trails to view the river and all the falls! The walking bridges, the woodland plants, the tree varieties, are enjoyable to see. We would be very careful if children are along but it was reasonable for the older people in our group.
Peaceful spot to hang out and watch the river flow. Nice hiking to the quieter parts of the river or choose to swim in Lake Superior.
Lovely view of the Lake and state park when you hike up. The falls were beautiful but had blocks of ice still on the sides!
A must see is the waterfall, but if you like to hike, take the hiking club trail. When you get to the top, the view is spectacular. Like most of the north shore state parks, the trails are not smooth and wide, but beautiful.
We took a chance to make a hiking trip on the North Shore in late October and it was spectacular. The fall colors were faded but the scenery at Cascade River State Park and surrounding area were awe-inspiring! The trails are perfectly marked so as to always know where you are and which trail you'd like to hike. Obviously the hiking along the Superior Hiking Trail next to the river and falls is priceless.
Easy access and well--placed near the river. I walked in from Cascade lodge. Found a cool sheltered camping spot on Lookout Mountain which would be perfect. Even had a bear-proof locker.
It just doesn't get any better than this. Peaceful, wooded, bliss with the river running through it.
We hiked the trail up to the falls. It was a beautiful September day, and the deep rocky gorge, views of the waterfalls were breath taking!
