Love having this park and green space in the city. Lots of trails and roads to explore as well as a dog park!
Love the openness of this place, great for hiking biking or your furry friends:) Can also book for wedding!
great place for your family and cook outs. very big and lots of space. The seen was very nice to look at.
Beautiful old park with winding trails and open spaces make this fun for the whole family. We especially liked the big rock and fountains.
Besides the cars, the crazy cyclist, the hoards of people how would just assume knock you over as to smile in your general direction. We walked all over this park. No one smiles when the pass. Some parks are like country roads...pleasant, calm, you can hear the birds, etc. Cherokee Park is the Audubon. The cyclist zip by you at breakneck speeds...inches away from you. Cars are only a little better when they pass. People everywhere on cell phones, yacking like we all want to hear them. If you want peace and quite, where you can hear birds...this is not your park.
Louisville is one of the few cities in the world with more than one park designed by the Father of Landscape Architects Frederick Law Olmsted. It is HUGE, even in a car. The park is active year-round and the sledding is great when the snow falls. Very few cities have such a great park system.
This beautifully landscaped park is perfect for dog walking. A little paradise in the middle of Louisville! Highly recommend a visit. Even a drive through is enjoyable.
I have visited this park several times, driving through and visiting. It has a lot to offer, if you don't mind being around other people. It is big enough to where you don't feel crowded, but there are always cyclists and cars speeding by. Great for picnics or just a day with nature. The view is always beautiful and it is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
My dog and I go to Cherokee regularly and it's conveniently located and very pretty. In warmer weather, she used to be able to swim in the creek and drink the water In recent years the water is no longer safe so keep your dogs out of the water! There is a permit dog park, open dark park, trails, and a paved loop, as well as picnic areas, and playgrounds.
Someone wrote that you need a GPS for this park! No lie! Biking, walking, beautiful old trees, creeks, bridges, golf course, Hogan's Fountain, you could literally spend days here! Take a camera!
