We took tours on about half of the stops on the Bourbon Trail. Although all were a little different, they were also the same. This stop was an exception. Great group of people work here. Had some samples and made some purchases. Definitely worth the stop.
I really enjoyed the this stop while in Louisville. The presentation was really something else! As many other reviews have stated it is as much about the history as it is the bourbon, but because of that I know have a much greater appreciation for this libation. I highly recommend this stop whether you are a bourbon fan or not.
Wonderful & friendly staff welcomed us and gave excellent knowledgable tour. This is a very well thought out bourbon history tour & tasting. I hear more distilleries are planning the same concept incoming years in downtown. We are doing the Mint Julep Bourbon Tour and this was a great addition to our weekend! We will recommend to friends!
We toured the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience last weekend with friends from out of town. Our group ranged from long time bourbon drinkers to non bourbon drinkers. We all learned a lot about the history and process of creating bourbon. Two non bourbon drinkers, myself included, learned to enjoy and appreciate it after the tour guides interesting and helpful comments during the tasting. The tour is long enough to give ample information and entertainment without going over and becoming repetitive. It is fast paced and the audio/visual presentations are excellent. Would highly recommend to locals and visitors alike.
I took some out-of-town friends/guests to the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience trying to give them some exposure to the Louisville area's history in Bourbon production. We did not have time for a full distillery tour (many of which are available in the area) because of a time problem. After a couple of hours of a well prepared and informative tour, discussion and tasting, we called the outing a GREAT SUCCESS and well worth the time for anyone. The "experience" is in an historic building on Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville. Very accessible and easily found with nearby parking, reasonably priced, knowledgeable guides, and a very will produced tour of the bourbon making process from grain to bottle to sipping. I do not think I could say anything negative about any aspect of the "experience". I would recommend this location/event to anyone looking for insight into the bourbon phenom who does not have the time for a full factory/distillery tour, or for any local looking to educate an out-of-town guest in our bourbon heritage. Finally, KUDOS to the establishment in making the facility as realistic as possible for a full experience. And they DO produce bourbon on site! Nice gift store at the end as well. WELL DONE!
This tour was very well done! I was disney-esque in that it was very cute and professional. It took you back in time to when Evan Began making bourbon to the present day. It was very informative and interesting. I felt like I was time traveling.
The Evan Williams Experience was a "tour" like none other and is a MUST on the Bourbon Trail. Someone described it as Disney Meets Bourbon and this couldn't be more true... and it does not feel campy at all. Very high production value. If I was going to open a distillery, I would copy much of their style.
This tour was very unique. The visuals made the experience come to life. The scaled down model of the distillery was interesting. The guide was what made it the most fun. We tasted different types of bourbon and the guide was very informative of the whole process of creating each unique bourbon.
My husband and I were in Louisville for a few days. Braving the bad weather, we were treated to a private tour. What a great time! Our guide, John was funny and informative. I loved the interactive exhibits, and the history of bourbon. The tasting was a wonderful and fun addition. They also have a great gift shop, but my time in there was cut short as I had tickets for another tour. I recommend, if you have time, take the tour and then explore the many places to drink in Louisville!
Whether you like bourbon or not, this is a world class attraction. It's a science lesson, a history lesson, and a sensory experience all rolled into one. No wonder louisville is considered an up and coming tourist destination. A must visit!
