We go to the museum a few times a year - It is a great place to take the kids to learn. They also have some traveling exhibits - some are geared toward kids, and they love it. Great addition to Green Bay!
The Packers Hall of Fame was housed in the Neville Public Museum while the normal one is being renovated (this is the primary reason we went there). The Packers portion of the museum was rather boring. This would be a great place to bring kids, but for adults not so much. I actually enjoyed the rest of the museum much more than the Packers area. It is a nice museum, but would be nice if it was more interactive in certain areas.
On Saturday after we got our tour tickets for Lambeau Field, we went to the Museum to see the Hall of Fame memorabilia. We so enjoyed the layout and the quite.
Spent the day there with a group of kids... lots of neat displays! And, many opportunities to interact with something for the younger children. Fascinating!! The gift shop is interesting, too!Could have spent more than the day there... so much to read.
They have some Packer stuff now and not being a sports fan, I thought that might not be all that interesting. However the ties to the community and vintage memorabilia are well done. The permanent display covers the areas history well including some very nice pieces. You can spend a couple or many hours enjoying the exhibits. They had torn down the brewery memorabilia and are putting up the Christmas display. This will cause us to go back as it includes the old window displays I understand.
PROS: ample parking; good exhibit about beer, the Packers, old time village , good exhibits outside the museum; CONS: short 1 hour visit; the children’s classroom could use newer equipment
Learn the history of Green Bay...and how this area came to be. There's also a really nice travelling display of some kind too...so you can go back again and again. The idea of sticking to the local history is really nice and there's always something new to learn about the Green Bay area.
...especially since it's the temporary home of the Packer Hall of Fame. A must-see shrine for any Packer fan, nicely arranged, displayed, and presented.Worth a visit even when the HOF returns to Lambeau; non-Packer fans will find engaging treatment of GB/Wisconsin geology, history, economy, located on the banks of the river, within walking distance of other places of interest.
On a Saturday morning, my wife and stopped by to take in the Neville Public Museum. It is the current home of the Packer Hall of Fame while the Atrium is being redone at Lambeau. The actual Hall of Fame is rather small - filling the small atrium on the main floor. The main exhibits are on the second floor. Most of these are of the normal exhibits, but a highlight for us was the old Christmas store front exhibits from the main department store - now long gone. At $5 a person it is a great value as well.
Our visit was cut short by their closing but this is worth an hour or so visit if you are in the area.
