The Gippsland Vehicle Collection at the Maffra Shed is a museum like few others. Dedicated to all things motorised, it was established and is staffed by volunteers with the support of local businesses. Whether you are a petrol head or just appreciate vintage vehicles, the Gippsland Vehicle Collection has something for you. With a range of cars and motor bikes spanning the past century, and a quirky cafe, this is a great outing for the family.
There are some very nice and interesting cars here, this place is definitely worth a look! Not expensive either!
Current display was on the Holden theme and had many different models on display including Monaros, FX and FJ and Toranas in restored and as found condition.Display changes 3 or 4 times a year and the free coffe and biscuites with the admission found the right spot.
Thanks for your great review. We are pleased that you stayed a little longer than expected. There is certainly a lot to see, and we change the themed display every 4 months. Our next display theme is American Sports cars and coupes.Greatly appreciate your time taken to make others aware of our jewel in Maffra.Cheers.
A big shed in Maffra houses one of the best car collections and motoring memorabilia that i have ever been to.It doesnt matter whether you are a petrol head or not,if you are travelling along the Princes Highway, detour to Maffra for a couple of hours in this building and talk to the keen volunteers who are very proud of this attraction. The collection has cars and bikes that go back 100 years and most seem in excellent order. There is a cafe on site
Thanks CarolN. We are really stoked with your review. The Motor Museum changes the display every 4 months and launched the new display with an Open DIsplay Day on the lawn around the museum. These are terrific family days, and enjoyed by all.Hope to see you trhere for a different display theme soon Thanks again.
Alot more than we expected, pristine restored vehicles from all over the world displayed in a huge acre sized shed . Vehicles included horse driven carts from the local dairy run from bygone days, motor bikes aswell as motor memorabilia like Shell petrol bowsers and a reconstructed mechanics shed. The gentleman volunteer was well informed and there was complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits available in a seating area .
Lots of interesting displays of vehicles. They change them every few months which is awesome. They occasionally have car shows which are great to go and see. Friendly staff there too :)
Maffra is a pretty country town based in the past on the dairy industry - probably still is but there is much more to the town now, like the motor museum, run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. There is a regular change over of displays (3x pa) with a particular theme each time. The vehicles are well displayed as are other pieces of garagenalia of interest. Coffee is usually available on site and for the "other half" plenty of seating while one waits for the other half to complete his/her viewing. Very interesting vehicles, many of them local, are sourced from various places. Well worth a visit especially on one of the "changeover days" - even more to see on these days. Well worth a visit.
A walk through time. Kept my bloke entertained for nearly an hour in a very large converted building. Informative & good to see such interest in history. A nice diversion from the highway.
