This is a local treasure. Please visit. The founding of this area happened around the tightly knit Greek community. It is a lovely and interesting history you will hear...
We popped into the church on a whim and were awed at the beauty of the church. Complete with a tiny little elderly Greek woman leaving a huge bouquet of red roses on the altar! Amazing art work.
This is a beautiful building/land mark. It's like a "welcome home beacon" for us whenever we have been traveling and are headed back to Gulf Shores. It's right on Hwy 181, our favored route back to the coast.
Located just seconds from I-10 Malbis exit. This is a must see regardless of your church affiliation or faith. The beauty of this church will leave you speechless . JUST SEE IT
This is a step into our history. A very knowledgable member informed us in a short time of how this all happened here in the Mobile area. He had all of the quarities of a good speaker along with his own personal love of the Church.
Our church group arrange a tour of the church. It is absolutely beautiful! The church is owned by the Malbis family, and one of the relatives gave us the history of the church. It was a great experience.
Unique architecture and decor. Located in middle of nowhere about 20 miles from Mobile, AL. Worth a short visit. Lovely. Calm.
You'll be enthralled with the story about the close knit, self sufficient community, its sacrifice, accomplishments, and determination to create something wonderful to worship in and pay homage to the God who enabled them to thrive. Luminious Greek Orthodox interior, splendid murals and paintings. The once well kempt grounds have begun to deteriorate, but those who know how important this building was to parishioners, have spearheaded an effort to restore the hurricane damaged dome. You can feel the guide's love and joy spilling over when he tells you about the Greek community, and the building of the church, much from proceeds from its successful bakery. I'll ruin the story if I tell more.
This church building is absolutely stunning. The architecture is beautiful & the interior murals & ornate decorations are gorgeous. I live about 10 miles away & generally take visiting family and friends to tour it. It is one of those places you could easily pass without paying it much attention, but it is worth the time to stop & see this one!
I saw this building on a calendar several years ago and decided that I would visit someday. I moved to Biloxi MS several years ago. My daughter came for a visit recently and we were in AL and accidentally came upon the church. It is just so beautiful!! I sat inside for awhile and basked in the serenity. It is so worth making the trip and seeing how lovely this church is.
