Lees Ferry Anglers in Marble Canyon, Ariz. is the go-to fly shop on the Colorado River for good reason. While other "destination" shops tend to gouge customers who need some gear in a hurry, Les Ferry Anglers is more than competitive. They stock big name merchandise - Orvis, Simms, Abel, Redington - with what appears to be a complete inventory. But perhaps better than the hardware is the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff. They seem to know what you'll need before you know it. They book guide trips, rent do-it-yourself boats or will just point you toward the river if that's what you want.
I fished at Lees ferry many years back , then again a couple years ago..LOVED IT!! Enjoyed Lees Ferry Anglers, Great Group of folks.. My guide this last time Was A Great Kid.. Going again this Oct. hope i can book him again..Highly Recommend This Company and The Guides
My husband and I went on a spin fishing day trip with Lees Ferry Anglers and it was fantastic! We had Kevin Campbell as our guide and he was extremely helpful, especially in the lead up to our trip - we were trying to book everything from Australia and he was so helpful via email about everything, not just our fishing trip! Highly recommended!
I recently took a fly fishing trip to Lees Ferry Arizona with four friends where we were outfitted and guided by Lees Ferry Anglers. In the past 20 years of fly fishing, this was one of my 3 most memorable and enjoyable trips! The guides were all exceptional. Each had a great understanding of the water condition variables created by Glen Canyon Dam and found us productive areas to fish each day. In addition, they were spot on with with their instruction on the proper rig and technique for fishing the water. Consequently, each of the five members of our group literally caught trout all day long, most ranging from 13 to 17 inches. Along with great fishing, the scenery in the canyon of the Colorado River from Lees Ferry to Glen Canyon Dam is positively incredible. The steep cliffs of Terracotta colored sandstone towering on each side of river is just amazing. One day we took a side trip up to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon after we came off of the water (approx. 90 min. each way) and if if you've never been to the North Rim - GO! It's one of classic vistas on the planet.During our trip, we stayed at Cliff Dwellers lodge where Less Ferry Anglers is based out of, and found the rooms to be very comfortable and clean and the meals were positively exceptional. The chef for their tiny restaurant is positively incredible. I had one of the best Cioppinos in my life on our first night and an incredible braised pork shank on another (be sure to try his dinner specials). Whether you're an experienced fly fisher or someone just getting started, I'd highly recommend a trip to this incredible tail water with Lees Ferry Anglers!
Dale Gauthier was my guide for the day. He had me on fish all day and was very pleasant to be around. He's been fishing The Colorado for years and know his stuff. I'd definitely like to go again!
Fly fishing can put you in some of the most beautiful environments available. The Canyon is magnificent and this is a good way to see it.
I have visited and fished at Lees Ferry Anglers on the Colorado River approximately 8 times over the past 20 years and it keeps getting better and better. This was the best! I was there with four friends and we each caught AND RELEASED approximately 60 rainbow trout each for three days. You do the math! We switched guides and partners each day and it made little difference ... we were into fish all day on midges, scuds and olive wooly buggers. Food was beyond reason for a joint out in the middle of nowhere. They advertise "great" spareribs and they speak the truth. Ribs, meatloaf, fried chicken - it was all over the top. Rooms are Motel 6ish, but a/c, showers and johns worked perfectly. Next time you want to do some serious fly-fishing with an eye toward bigger fish, you simply can't beat Lees Ferry.
Lees Ferry Anglers provides excellent service, supplies and information for travelers and anglers. Always friendly and helpful.
Ever try to teach your kids how to fly fish? I much better idea is to bring them up to the Ferry where you can have a guide like Skip Dixon teach them how and put them on the fish in a matter of minutes. Was extremely pleased with the whole experience, the fuide was incredibly patient, everybody caught fish and we all learned a thing or three to boot. Only regret is that the day went so fast!
We spent a week fishing, hiking, sightseeing with Lee's Ferry Anglers. We had Dale Gaulthier as our fishing guide for 2 days. He was very competent, careful, and a knowledgeable conversationalist. Caught lots of fish, almost non-stop action. Dale would drop my wife Cindy off at a hiking spot in the canyon while we fished. The hiking in the area is wonderful, with hikes for all abilities. Everyone had a great time. Would recommend trip to anyone who loves outdoors and fishing.
