I'm sorry to read this. It is true, she originally called on the day of my brothers death. I was fielding hundreds of calls that day about my brother and must have missed her message. The next time she called was the day of his funeral. I told her there would likely be a tour the day she wanted to go (we don't conduct tours for less than four people) and that I would know more as that day got closer and could she call back later as I was in the middle of a funeral. True, I did have some inquiries from others about a tour that day but they never booked. When she did finally call back I told her that were not enough people for a tour. I could have given her names of other tour companies to call but she was too busy screaming at me for me to get a word in. Then she hung up. I think you can see from our other reviews that this is not the way we normally conduct business. Could I have been more attentive to her needs? Probably, but under the circumstances, trying to arrange my brothers funeral and dealing with his death, I did the best I could. I apologize and will try to do better in the future.
14 retired folks. A mutual interest in wine. Dale at the wheel. It was a perfect combination. First, the house was near perfect including a fully supplied kitchen, comfy beds, stacks of luxurious towels, and a wonderful view. Then the tour . . . Dale went far above the call of duty to show us a good time. I can't say enough good things about our experience. Thanks, Dale!
This was such a great experience! Dale is such a kind, enjoyable person. My girlfriends booked this for our weekend away before my wedding. The tour safely escorts you through the beautiful Hill Country to visit some of the best places around. You are able to take your time and enjoy the ride. I can't wait to get another group together to take the tour again!! Thank you so much Dale for making my weekend so special!!
I'm very sorry to see this review. My primary goal is to have happy customers. This couple was one of nine couples we had on Valentines Day and the only one I have heard a complaint from. It's true, we do sometimes visit tasting rooms that do not have a vineyard right outside the door. This is common in Texas as many wineries have tasting rooms that are not in the same location as their vineyards. The stops we made that day are some of the most popular with our customers. The first one (Enoteca), referred to by the reviewer as "a store in Marble Falls", is the tasting room for Flat Creek Estate, an award winning winery in the area. We often visit the tasting room instead of the winery as the winery is 25 miles in the opposite direction from the majority of the other wineries in the area. This winery has won numerous awards for their wines and they also have a large selection of wines which they import from Italy. The art gallery the reviewer mentions is actually a tasting room and art gallery in one. They are a licensed Texas winery; however, their grapes are grown in another part of the state. Warren, the owner, is one of the most knowledgeable people in Texas when it comes to wine and he is a favorite among my customers. He goes to great lengths to tell my guests all of the intricacies in tasting and choosing wines that suit their palates. As a bonus, the tastings occur inside the art gallery, managed by Warren's wife Susan, a former arts professor at UT. Customers can sip and admire original works of art at their leisure while they taste. Many of my customers tell me that this is their favorite stop of the day. The third stop, Hye Market, is not a grocery store. http://www.hyemarket.com/about It is a historic market, built in 1904 and is one of the most popular stops in the Texas Wine Country region. It has been turned into a tasting room, offering samples for several different wineries and breweries in the surrounding area. They also have a gourmet deli using fresh local ingredients so we often have lunch while we are there. Yes, lunch was delayed while the group was there. My drivers told me the waitress got the order wrong, which is unfortunate but these things happen occasionally. However, this allowed the group even more time than usual in the tasting room. The last winery we visited that day was Texas Hills Vineyards. One of the oldest and best known wineries in the area, I enjoy taking my guests to this award winning winery. I have had only positive feedback from my guests concerning Texas Hills Vineyards. I want to make one thing perfectly clear. The reviewer states my drivers "clearly got kickbacks". Nothing is further from the truth. Neither I nor my drivers receive anything from the wineries we visit.Often times, we can and do change the itinerary mid tour to accommodate the wishes of the group. We appreciate any and all feedback and customer satisfaction is our top priority. That is why we are the top rated tour company in Texas. I have offered this customer another tour at no cost. I hope that he will accept my offer.
What a wonderful time. I planned this trip for my wife and I and six other couples. Dale was very helpful. We rented the Heart of Texas big house. It is beautiful and just perfect for 14 friends to spend time visiting. Dale went above what he needed to do to show us the wineries, great meals and the Christmas Lights in the area. I highly recommend Heart of Texas Wine Tour. If anyone has any doubt or would like to get a reference I would be glad to talk to you. And yes we are already planning out next trip.
7 retired couples drove from our resort in Edinburg to the Hill Country of Texas for what turned out to be a wonderful wine tasting trip. We rented the beautiful Heart of Texas Ranch House. The ranch house was beautiful roomy and with 7 bedrooms there was room for all of us. We chose who had which room by choosing numbers. We put a piece of paper with a number on each bed and then drew numbers to see who got each room. We barbecued steaks for dinner our first night. The roomy kitchen gave us plenty of room to cook. The spacious dinning room accommodated all of us. The roomy deck easily had room for over 100 people. Our full day started when Dale picked us up for our wine tasting. We started at Flat Creek Winery. We had great wine and pizza. We visited 3 other wineries. Even though it was not part of the tour, Dale agreed to take us some place for dinner. He picked out a fantastic hamburger joint. The prices were reasonable. He then drove us back to the ranch being sure to take a route through Johnstown to see the Christmas lights. We spent a very nice and tired evening, before leaving the next day. All of us enjoyed the ranch and the wine tour. We may return again next year. If we do I will encourage the group to spend an extra night in the fantastic ranch. A great idea for a mid week get away for a small group who enjoy a wine adventure. We may return next year, and I would like to spend an extra night. This is a definite yes.
We went with another couple, and it was great from start to finish. Dale has a big comfortable van and he selected a terrific place for lunch with wine, followed by three winery visits and tastings. Plenty of room in the van to bring back "souvenirs." An easygoing, laid back way to spend a beautiful afternoon in the Texas Hill Country, with a very agreeable designated driver.
Great tour with a true Texas feel. Dale was fantastic and accommodating. Don't miss the Hye Market at the end.
Daryl was fantastic! He was very knowlegeable with the area and vineyards. He was very accommodating. The weekend of our tour was extremely hot, Daryl always kept the bus running so that it was not hot when we returned to the vehicle. He even went out of his way to show us the area so that we knew where to go after our tour was over. I would definitely use Heart of Texas Wine Tours again!
I've been on two Heart of Texas wine tours, and they are the absolute best!! Dale has great recommendations and is so accommodating. The vineyards are breathtakingly beautiful and the wine is pretty amazing too!
