We booked that half-day tour with Highland Wilderness Tours back in March and we had an excellent day! Very nice welcome (they even landed us some snow pants because one of us did not have some), and very friendly guide named Jeff! He was a passionate who shared this passion with us for one afternoon, we heard stories about the dogs, the area... We had the opportunity to prepare the dogs ourselves to get to know them and we spent time petting them and taking pictures with them outside in the forest. The tour itself was on beautiful trails in the heart of the forest, it was only us, the dogs and nature, so peaceful and enjoyable! We definitely recommend these guys for a perfect dog-sledding tour: great value for money!
Loved the trails, horses had great temperment, guides really knowledgeable and friendly. Worth every penny.
We suscribed for a combo of 2 hours of snowmobiling and 2 hours of dogsledding. This was really the good length to enjoy it for a first time! The snowmobile trails we used are the ones that pass close to Maynooth and there was both trails on big plains and trails in the forest! The snowmobiles are really good and the guide was very nice! The dogsledding experience takes place on their private property but it is huuuuge! The trails are awesome, in between the trees, the dogs are beautiful. We even had one sled per person that time. That was awesome!I highly recommend the combo for a first experience, especially as they are the only one to offer that in the area!
This past weekend I went on a dog sledding adventure! It was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! The people were great and their animals are outstanding! It was clear that Matt and Penny take great care of all the animals on property! Their dogs specifically were well mannered and hard working! The way the staff looked out for each dog before / during and after the run was very impressive! I will absolutely be going back!!!
This was me and my husband's first time snowmobiling and we couldn't have gone with a better company. They had everything to make sure we were safe and comfortable - suits, clean balaclavas, helmets etc. Our guide was friendly and gave really good instructions. I wasn't sure if I would be good at driving but he made me feel really comfortable. I would recommend using a washroom before arriving since they only have an outhouse, but at least it was clean as far as outhouses go!I would definitely come back again and would recommend it to others.
Just want to say Matt and Penny are two extremely friendly people, very welcoming. Very informative as what the tour entailed and what was expected of us. We had a PERFECT day Weather wise as well as the best tour. We have never been in this area, beautiful scenery. A MUST to experience. Worth every penny. Thx Penny and Matt
I emailed highland wilderness atv tours on a Monday, had all of my questions answered within hours of my original email. Very fast and courteous. I called the Tuesday morning and booked in a 2 hour atv tour for the Thursday of the same week! Penny was extremely helpful on the phone and email, more than accommodating to us with such short notice. We went on a private tour, 2 of us and the guide, Matt, who was amazing. The ride was absolutely beautiful and it was 2 hours of RIDING time plus a 20 minute break and explanation about the area and all things surrounding it at a beautiful lookout over a lake. Matt is very knowledgable about the area and is very friendly. He even stopped us a few extra stops to explain some properties that were for sale in the area as I am in the market. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone. We are thinking of going back for a winter snowmobile tour. Great buisiness and friendly people.
Matt had time to take us out for fishing in between dog sledding and snowmobiling. Wow what fun. Matt knows all the good spots. Thanks MattJason.
My former colleagues in France offered me this combo gift last year. As I arrived too late in Canada to do the activities, Penny graciously accepted that I did them this year. So my husband and I booked ours tours for mid-january this year. The day was really cold but we had a wonderful time ! We first did the 2-hour dogsledding tour with our guide Jessica and another couple. It was really nice to do this activity in a small group. Jessica was really friendly and took care that everyone enjoyed the activity. Each person had his own sled with four dogs to drive. The first part of the activity consisted in harnessing the dogs. It was a great way to meet the dogs. They were really friendly and excited to go running. We then did our tour in their beautiful trails. As we were back to the kennel Jessica proposed us to unharness the dogs.In the afternoon we did our 2-hour snowmobiling tour with Jeff and the same couple. My husband and I were together on the same snowmobile. The experience was really fun. The trails were expressly groomed for snowmobiles. Jeff was very friendly and paid close attention to us ensuring that we enjoyed this activity. It was a really nice day in their company. We highly recommend Highland Wilderness to everyone looking to discover these 2 great activities !
It was our first experience for both. We had the snow mobiling with Jeff, great time and Jeff made sure we had an entertaining and safe ride. On Sunday we did the dog sledding with Matt, it was fun, fast at places, beautiful peaceful views. We recommend doing both, and spend an overnight at a nearby b&b, listed under their website.
