This trip starts at the base of a glacier ending two weeks later at the northern-most rainforest in the world. The scenery from start to finish is breathtaking, unbelievable and constantly changing. We had numerous bear, eagle and seal spottings along with a variety of other wildlife. The guides are extremely attentive, 'locally knowledgeable' and friendly. A guide can make or break your trip, these guides do everything possible to make sure you have a great time. They knew where all the good spots to hike were and made sure to point out photo ops you might miss. If I could rate the guides 6 stars I would.By back-country standards the food was almost decadent. I ate better during the trip than I normally eat at home. During two weeks in the back-country I will normally lose a few pounds, that did happen here. All in all this was as much, or more, fun than I've had in years. My only regret is I couldn't turnaround and do it again.
We had a wonderful time with Ed, rafting down the river. We have rafted in many places before, but this was our first Alaskan trip. The braided river provides such a different experience. The river was low, so the trip was mellow and dry. It was so enjoyable. The flight back to McCarthy was breathtaking! All in all we would recommend it for everyone.
We had a fantastic family adventure rafting trip in 2010! Rafting, hiking, lunch on the "beach," and a return to base by plane! No way to top that! Every member of the crew was fantastic and made sure our adventure was pure fun! I would highly recommend Copper Oar Rafting to anyone looking for this kind of adventure!
When I feel stressed out I close my eyes and relive the serenity of our family rafting trip on the Copper River with Copper Oar Rafting. Such peaceful memories with 3 teenage boys are rare but so wonderful to hold! JFS
An amazing family adventure. We all enjoyed from the views, the crew, the food, the rafting and the flightsee back to McCarthy.
Going to McCarthy, AK was by far the best trip I have ever gone on. I went rafting and ice climbing, spent some time hiking and flying, and explored the great area! I recommend all of those activities and more if you find yourself with the extra time! The staff was always fantastic and very friendly and they are all very professional. Worth every penny and second!
A very nice raft float trip that starts in McCarthy and terminates at a wilderness gravel bar where you are picked up by a small bush plane for transport back to McCarthy after a brief flight tour of the up river glaciers.
Rafting in the Wrangells allows you to experience big country that is very wild. The size of the rivers and canyons are very beautiful and still wild country. At the end of the trip, the flight back to McCarthy is an exciting way to flightsee a part of the Wrangells.Copper Oar Rafting - is top notch on service and details. The guides were very good and engaging and provided a nice balance of local knowledge. The place we stopped for lunch (awesome lunch spread) was very interesting with a unique feel of being in a true wilderness. The glacial rivers run fast with an amazing amount of water flow. The trip was very safe and well run.The raft and flightsee adventure was the highlight of my trip to McCarthy and Wrangells.Highly recommend the experience floating and flightseeing the Wrangells.
Take the opportunity if time allows...especially great for first timers as its fairly smooth...this is not for those seeking white rapids.
Beautiful scenery, knowledgeable guides, and wildlife sightings all combined into one amazing day of adventure! The flightsee on the way back was the perfect end to the day. The food was great, and the guides kept us riding in comfort. I was very impressed with their skill in maneuvering the rafts. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants the true Alaska wilderness experience. A must do!
