My husband and I stumbled upon this winey in adorable downtown McKinney. The wine offers something for everyone, even my husband who isn't a wine drinker. They have frozen wine-a-Rita's and also sangria. The wine has many levels of sweet to dry and everything in between. we joined their club which is one id the best deals in local wineries. They offer a 20% discount instead of 10% like most wineries. Check them out, you won't be disappointed. Also great shopping and dining on the square.
My husband and I love the outside seating at Landon. Great view of the downtown McKinney square, and a nice place to get the vibe of the evening scene. We joined the wine club for the pinot noir alone (our favorite). We have listened to live entertainment and had wonderful evenings with friends, and on our weekly date nights. Can't go wrong at Landon!
Though the service at the bar was very good, I was very disappointed. Our guest came here from England to celebrate is 89th birthday, and all they could offer was a Happy Birthday song. When one pays over $6.50 a glass, one would think they could have offered a special acknowledgement for such a celebration. The live entertainment was asked to play something "british" with no offer ~ very sad. 89 years deservers more affirmation even for human relations. Nothing special at all about this place with high prices with nothing else to make it special for a place that offers Ritz crackers for their cheese board and charges $1.50 for water from a plastic water dispenser. Very low quality.
Our first time visiting McKinney in years, we celebrated a family event in the private tasting rooms. The location on the square is perfect; easy to locate, and we were honestly surprised by the quality of the wines we had. Service unfortunately was slow; event preparation was sparse. And no real food to speak of. For us, no need to return.
We thoroughly enjoy our trips to McKinney every other month or so to relax on Landon's patio in McKinney Square. Even when the temps are HOT, there seems to be a refreshing breeze. There's often great music and always very good wines! A perfect, close get-away!
We stopped in while exploring McKinney and did the 5 for $5 tasting. The lady pouring our wine was very friendly. We would have stayed longer for a cheese plate or hummus if we hadn't just eaten lunch. This would be a wonderful place to relax with cheese and wine on a carefree afternoon. We bought two bottles of our favorite wines. Our two favorites:The Texan - Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir blend that was spicy with a hint of black pepper.Tempranillo - tasted like the perfect wine to have with steak on a romantic evening.
Having bought some while shopping at Canton Trade Days at Christmas, I decided to order some and have it shipped home to Louisiana. The peach and the red raspberry are my favorites. Will be ordering more.
We sat outside on a nice summer's evening. Unfortunately the only table we could find was dirty, so we sat and waited for someone to clear the glasses and bottles away. The first comment we got from the lady who came to see us, was 'do you want more wine'? We explained that we had just arrived and would like to see the menu - she seemed to have a bit of an attitude and she certainly wasn't friendly. We chose a wine, which was good and there was a decent choice. It was however expensive. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around the square and I think if I were to return I would try some of the others first before I went back here. We certainly didn't feel welcomed.
The patio is okay, but this is not a place to get a great glass of wine. I found wine to be either sweet or just not good. I love local businesses, local products, and buying local, but not enough to go back to Landon Winery.I would recommend any of the other restaurants on the Square before I would recommend Landon Winery. And if you want to buy wine in McKinney, please go to the McKinney Wine Merchant around the corner. I don't have any connection to the Wine Merchant, other that the great wine I buy there.
Attention TripAdvisor - this needs to go under restaurants rather than sites... I think. ???Landon Winery is a neat little wine bar... right in the middle of the historic downtown square. They have a nice little fruit and cheese platter and plenty of cozy seating inside or a few cherished seats outside. The service is good. Atmosphere is nice. The wine and location is great. Even my wine connoisseur son in law has a favorite wine here... it's called Texan. I like Texas Rose which is a sweet yellow wine. They can do wine tastings too. Enjoy!
