Prithvi theatre is located very close to the Juhu beach. It houses some of the best plays. The Prithvi cafe located at the same place offers nice food with warm ambience. It is a wonderful place to watch a play and chill out at the cafe.
This is one place I love to go to. If not for a play then to just sit at the cafe talk to friends and spend a leisurely evening. It is a place that always feels cosy and yet inspiring, the warm yellow lights give a sense of belonging. It is was good 5 months after which I had gone to Prithvi for their Carnival play and it was just great. The small skits were very good. Looking to back again for other good plays
The plays here still remind you of the original ones where the actors were at a close distance and you didnt have to strain your eyes to see the expressions. However, please ensure that you reach on time since they will not allow you to enter if you are late. Also, there is no parking within the complex and parking outside gets crowded. If you are a theatre enthusiast then a must visit
There is nothing really outstanding about this 'edifice'....no architectural grandness , no rambling spaces, no cutting edge acoustics , no hallowed hallways & yet it has greatness in every inch of its space owing to the passion, generosity & vision of its founder-donor, the late Prithviraj Kapoor He read well that the rich land hungry city of Bombay will need the greatness of a smallish space to keep alive the tradition of funding & sponsoring the creatives ....Prithvi truly is a god send to the suburbs of Bombay. You can't be living in or visiting Bombay if you don't visit Prithvi !!!
25th of January 2015 is the day which will be enriched in my mind and heart for years to come since this was the day when I finally got an opportunity to visit the Prithviraj Theatre which was the brainchild of Prithviraj Kapoor way back in the year 1944 and then it was over the years inaugurated once again on 5th of November 1978. The reason why this place is unique because it has a restaurant which serves excellent choice of Breakfast as well as Hot Beverage along with a Sunday Brunch and different choice of Wine (for Lunch) on one side and on the other the theatre was showing different plays. After we enjoyed a hearty breakfast we decided to watch the play RaavanLeela on the spot which i may say was indeed quiet funny and hilarious.Anther thing which really touched me was the number of people who kept on coming to this wonderful place which is situated in the residential area.
the place is a melting pot of ideas and artists run a mock.. it feel like you are not in mumbai specially since the place is scerene and idellic. I personally love going to prithvi just for the ambiance the plays are an added advantage
Prithvi Theatre, for those in love with literature and theatre and music and poetry, is a heaven. A home away from home. Simply built, the magic of this place lies in its history and the institution's capacity to attract great talent. The Prithvi cafe is another outstanding place to visit, and the Irish coffee better than any I've ever tasted.
saw a show here- the theatre area is beautiful- courtyard is so nice. i enjoyed a few parties here for the shows- they really went all out with the food and service. you can tell they have high standards- nice to see
Love the place. A very relaxed atmosphere (but can get crowded) and some very good quality snacks! The Irish coffee is great and a long time favourite!
