We visited Montreal in December, so the shops at Vieux-Port were closed, but we enjoyed the scenery. There's a great view of the St. Lawrence river, and an ice skating rink there. It was a nice place for a walk!
Here in March. Ice melted...no skating. Slushy snow on walkways very hard to get around. Really nothing "old port" about it. Probably fun pier in summer, but sad there wasn't any historic aspect.
Best in summer time - sidewalks, cafes, street performers, quaint restaurants, music, shopping - a perfect place to just laze around and watch the world go by. Great to walk around in summerPicturous view of the St Lawrence river and in winter an ice skating rink.Recommend visiting in Late Spring/Summer/Early Fall
A hodgepodge of Architectural styles from the 1700 onward. Montreal is not cheap but here the restaurants are even less cheap although there is a range of prices and cuisines Check out the Lord Nelson garden and sit have a drink or a full meal and enjoy some cool jazz...late spring, summer and early fall.
It snowed all 3 days we visited but that didn't stop us from walking along the Old Port. We enjoyed walking along and watching the people ice skating and there was a great path all around the area so we could enjoy from all angles. We dressed warm so it was a great experience and we enjoyed it. Went through a nice indoor market that had lots of boutique shops and clean restrooms. We also visited the history museum which is a must! They show a great interactive film before the tour (if you are interested) and we really learned a lot about the history of Montreal.
If in or visiting Montreal, this a must see!!This part of Montreal truly depicts the European style adopted back in the 18th century. There are a lot of shops and restaurants for you to enjoy.Would highly recommend a visit to this area of Montreal.
If you haven't been here in a while you're in for a surprise.Old meets new and it has a lot more there than used to be there. We went on a sunny day and had some sangria with some friends once it was too hot to walk. This is truly one of my favorite go to places in Montreal!
Even though it was winter it was a beautiful warm sunny day. We walked along the river and enjoyed the winter landscape. Most activities are closed in the winter but this is the time of the year you can walk in a less crowded environment and enjoy our winter climate.
Because we traveled with our dogs, it was actually perfect that Old Port was closed in April when we were there in 2014. We were able to walk our dogs and look around. I can imagine how busy it gets in summer time when all the shops are open.
