We volunteered for "boo at the zoo" to hand out candy. It was loads of fun! Nice to see all the adorable kids dressed up for Halloween! Bring your kids for tons of fun.
the zoo have a lot of difficult species . The size zoo little zoo it take 1hour walk around the zoo. U can fed birds for $1.00
This is a Zoo that is known for success in breeding difficult species.Although not a large or expansive zoo it is well worth the walk around since it feels like a pleasant place to be. The residents are well cared for and healthy and the enclosures are safe. Be aware of the tiger cage..You are very close and they have a fun habit of "spraying" those that venture close to the cage.
We finished it in just over an hour and the animals were awesome and we fed a pig. We had a great time.
Smaller than big-city zoos, but that allows you to get closer to the animals. A great day trip for families with younger kids. Stroller friendly! Stop at the beach afterwards for a quick swim, or just to dip your toes.
It's small, but fine for toddlers. The monkey exhibit is out of commission, unfortunately. The walk-thru bird exhibit is pretty cool. You can get Popsicle sticks with bird food to feed to the little birdies. The kids love it cuz the birds will fly up to them, land on their arms or hands, and munch away. Several of the paths are uphill walks, so if you're in a wheelchair you'll need someone to be pushing all the way. All-in-all, a small but nice hour or so with the grand kids, or your kids.
Very clean zoo. There are not a lot of animals to see. The zoo is good for little kids. We went to the Boo at the Zoo and that was really nice.
I visited the zoo while on a weekend trip to Washington Park, and had a wonderful time! The zoo was very quaint, and affordable. I went on a Saturday Morning a little after they opened, and there were only a handful of visitors in the zoo, many were families with small children. The small size of the zoo made the experience seem more intimate as well as the small crowd size. Overall I was very pleased with this visit, and recommend it for couples or families with small children.
This was a last minute decision for us to stop here after a wedding we attending with famly at Lakeside Inn. We were with an 8 year old, 5 year old and 1 year old. What a great little zoo. The kids really enjoyed themselves. It's not crowded so it's great for the kids to be able to run around. There are not a lot of animals here but the animals they had the kids enjoyed. Had the weather been better we could have gone to the beach as you literally could walk to the beach from where we parked the car. It's worth the trip if you are out that way.
This is NOT Brookfield or Indianapolis Zoo. This is a small zoo that was built in 1928. It has undergone a lot of recent work and is still being improved upon. It is a wonderful place to visit for an hour or two. If you have small children, and don't want to spend an entire day at a zoo, then this is perfect! It is on a sand dune so it is steep in places. If you feel energetic be sure to climb to the top of the observation tower. The view is amazing! It is pretty inexpensive. For non-residents it is$6.50 for adults and $5.50 for seniors and children. At Brookfield you will pay $16.95 for adults and $11.95 for kids. Washington Park zoo is priced appropriately and is a nice place to visit. The history of the zoo can be found here:http://michigancityparks.com/index.php/general-information/zoo-history
