We enjoyed the casual dining environment and variety of simple fare on the menu. Food was made with quality ingredients and all in our party were please with their choices. I really enjoyed the mountain ale, not so much the wildflower wheat...too one dimensional for my tastes.
Their beer is excellent and the people that work there are very helpful. We had a local cheese plate and it complemented the beers that we were drinking.
This small place has a great outdoor area and the pastries, breads, sandwiches and coffees are just wonderful.
We traveled from Middlebury, VT to the Basin Harbor Club and Otter Creek flowed alongside and under us at various times. There were fairly large boats on the creek that I thought should be on a river. Whatever it's called, its meandering is through picturesque countryside and makes for a very enjoyable ride.
Stopped by to buy some cider for my sister (special request), they have a brand new brewery exhibit with self-guided tour. The tasting room was generous and most of the varieties were actually delicious, including the gimmicky ones, like chocolate. Need a car to get there, but really rather close to town. There is no break on prices of cider, however, which was a disappointment. If you wanted to mix a six-pack (should be easy for the factory) it bumps the price to $11.50!.
This is a great place to enjoy nature. If you fish use a red and white spoon with wire leader for some nice Northern Pike. If you just like to bird watch it is home to many. Check out the Ann Story monument if you can find it down from the Salisbury Covered Bridge.
This was one of my items on my bucket list, to tour all the micro-brews of Vermont. I really enjoy the freshness of a good craft beer and with a great lunch, Life is Good. I suggest the flight sampler it's a great way to taste and sample with friends.
If you travel to Middlebury- do not leave this place off your list. Friendly. Incredible food. My favorites: The cheese soup, the chili and the Meatloaf Paninni. We went there twice. Sam and Aletha who were the servers were nice as can be. The GM Brian was friendly and kind. Mike the Brewmaster was incredibly smart and engaging. What a great place to have lunch or happy hour. Wish we had one in Jersey. And don't stop making the Copper Ale- it's the best beer in America!
We spend about half and hour admiring the waterfall and people watching while the local farmers market was in full swing in the background. It was a wonderful day to spend the mid-morning!The town of Middlebury is super quaint, and Otter Creek is the icing on the cake!
Good beer and food... try the cheese plate and hummus with your sampler of beers .. great... we will be back!
