We received free tickets from Seleta Hotel so we visited the cave bath too when we traveled to Northern Hungary. Unfortunately we vent there during school holiday and the place was overcrowded. We had to wait for half an hour to get a changing cabin and finally when we were able to enter the bath all the beds and seats were occupied. The basins were also full of kids and they parents. In this situation we were not able to enjoy the bath and we left soon. The bath itself is fantastic, well designed and built. Please avoid visiting the place during school holidays because you will be vey disappointed.
We went there on a Saturday for a relaxing day at the baths. We arrived before lunch and it already was fairly busy. I managed to find one empty lounger. There were a few other empty ones but all with towels on them – to reserve them for later I presume. When we first entered the pool system we had expected warm water, but were surprised to find it rather cold. We had been to other Spas where the water was much warmer. The “cold” water would have not been so bad, if you could have a proper swim, but the pool is not deep enough really for swimming. The “side” pools further inside the caves are much warmer and we spent most of our time there, along with the majority of all the other visitors. There was nowhere peaceful/tranquil in the cave system to relax. Later in the afternoon it became too busy for our liking. All in all we enjoyed our time at the spa, as the cave system is amazing and we had a relaxing massage there. We will try to come back in the summer when the outdoor pools are open too, but during the week.
I was for the 2nd time in the Cave Baths of Miskolc Tapolca. Its maybe the most beautiful Bath in Hungary. The other hot springs have historic or modern buildings but no one has a natural cave like here in Miskolc Tapolca.Do not expect a really hot spring, the caves water is only around 32°C. There is one inside building pool that has 35°C which is the hottest that the bath has.I loved the dark round domed cave pool because of the awesome acoustic resonance in it.It amplyfies your voice by 10 times like beeing in a conzert hall When you hit the right tone it even vibrates your whole body.People had lots of fun trying out differend noises.I have read from others here the hot springs are very crowded, but not in september weekdays when i was there.I even saw a group of chinese people having a guided tour around the cave bath taking hundreds of pictures. I guess they want to copy it soon. The best way to get there is by car,but park a few hundred meters away from the springs the parking fees is a ripp off aroun 2.50 - 3€ a hour. The negative, they still use outdated changing room lockers. Nearly nobody speaks english or german.Unfriendly staff. Cave Baths closing 18.00h (6.00pm) If you want to keep tourists you need to bee open longer.
We visited the cave baths in mid October, on a week day (wasn't crowded at all), and it was a great experience. The place is very beautiful and unusual. It's actually a pool system in a cave, which makes it very special and fun to explore. The one relative disadvantage of this place was the water temperature - the highest riches 35C. It's really warm to walk in, but you get used to it very fast and wish it was warmer. But nonetheless, it didn't change our experience, since the place is closed and seems to have heating, so it's not influenced much by the weather. The outside pools are closed from October 1st. We were there on a nice sunny day, but I think being there on a rainy and cold day would be just the same. I really recommend visiting this place if you're in the area.TIP: don't miss the pools that are not connected to the cave system, they are on the left from the entrance and though they are the less interesting in their location and atmosphere, they're also the warmest.
Spent two weeks visiting my country and must say this place was the winner for the whole family!Besides the gorgeous site, we enjoyed a family hide and seek in the cooler pools, relaxed in the warm ones, then got refreshed outside.Got a wonderful massage, fish pedicure and even tried the floating relaxation in the oyster bath! All staff members were very helpful and friendly, the services were great. We even had great lunch and ice-cream there!Perfect day with the family!

We went on a family trip to the baths during the week, it was very cheap to enter the baths very good value, we spent two days there as we stayed local, we would definitely return again, very relaxing , clean and great value for all the family! The only negative thing I can say is the jacuzzi and back massage jets are not often enough but for the price we where all still very relaxed and happy at the end of both days!
We went after 15:00 o'clock when we purchased cheaper tickets (1500 huf instead of 1950) and stayed until 18:00 o'clock when the Cave Bath closes .Plenty of time for everything. If you stayed longer I would say you get bored (but that's just my opinion). The water at the cave area was too cold , but in the other areas it was ok.If you go for the first time , first you have to explore it a little to know where you can find the halls and the pools , this might be trickier when some areas are closed.
Visiting Cave Baths was a great pleasure for body and for soul. Cave bath are natural thermal water source inside the mountain. It's a mirracle. MUST SEE.
It's definitely a really cool place to go to however I would not say that it is a must go when you are only visiting Hungary for a while. The spas in the caves are definitely something unique, but the water was way too cold and there were too way too many people, possibly because we went there on a Saturday. I would say that there are better places to go to.
