The welcome center was very....welcoming! Friendly staff, free to enter, restrooms, picnic area and a really nice museum. The fort, a 1/3 replica was nothing to write home about but it's free entertainment.
The museum had some interesting artifacts, but was lacking in that there is nothing left of the original fort. It is a partial reconstruction at 4/5 scale of the original.
Decided to stop here based on reviews on Trip Advisor since we wanted to see some downtown sights. Went in for a quick moment while my wife waited in the car. She was about ready to send a search party for me. Once I got in and started talking to the 3 people that were working there, I couldn't get out. They were just full of information and really wanted to share it. If your interested in the fort forget it. If you are looking for information about the Mobile area, well worth your time. We were looking for a hotel in the area and they suggested the Hampton Downtown a block away from them. Wow, what a beautiful hotel. Nicest Hampton we had ever been in. Very Quiet - Nice
Brought my wife and son to visit. My wife actually enjoyed it more than my son who was 12 at the time. Very well kept, clean, nice people working there. I find the history very interesting and recommend everyone visiting at least once. If your passing through, make a pit stop. It will be worth your time. They also shoot off a canon during the day, so find out when and try to catch it. How often can you see that?
It is a replica of the real fort..it was cool to go into the fort underground to learn about the history..the kids went to the top..the visitor center is like any other one ...lots of info about the area..
This should be your first stop if you're new to Mobile. The staff inside are very friendly and helpful. And it is very cool to walk through the hallways inside the fort walls and look at all the museum pieces. Clean bathrooms. Free parking as well, so if you want to walk around the immediate downtown, this is a great place to park. Absolutely love this place!
God exhibits, well laid out with displays of early Mardi Gras floats before there was any in New Orleans.
The Fort itself is small with a few description pictures. The welcome center has some great information about Mobile and where to eat. They have tons of brochures.
Free parking and clean restrooms are only beat by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. We visit here three times in five days. Used this facility as our tour center and let them plan our trips.
Went with group of out of town visitors. They really enjoyed the Fort and going into all the little spaces used so long ago. No charge to visit the fort or welcome center. Personnel helpful in helping us decide what else to visit in downtown Mobile .
