Plain on the inside but with an interesting mural from Mojacar's artisan period. The outside is amazing with lovely little cafes dotted around various small squares.
A typical example of a Spanish church - lots of flowers & wall paintings - lovelyAlthough very small there were lots of interesting things to see.Behind the altar was the most beautiful wall art .
In the centre of Mojacar Olde Town the church is stunning and very welcoming - a must visit. A beautiful bell tower tolling on the hour leads you through the little maze of streets to the chuch at the heart of the town.
ideal place to get away from the cold wintry days in the UK,for a while.the hotels are less crowded and no beat the rush at meal times !Lots of lovely walks in and around Mojacar, and mountain villages to visit.
Beautiful church situated in the centre of Mojacar Pueblo. Internal painting delightful. An oasis of quiet in what can be a very busy little hilltop village.
Go in if the church is open it's beautiful inside. 20 Euros to light a candle to remember a loved one.
Please spend a few quite moments here. On a hot day a great place to take breather. Also great cafe bars nearby in the square. There are a few steps.
Very peaceful and quiet.. Just to sit and Pray to God ..how wonderful it is to enjoy the life we have.. enjoying Peace,Good Health,Wealth,Family and Friends ..then it is wonderful to express it in such a place like this Church! God Bless us all..we are fortunate travellers others are in the middle of war, famine or even poverty..in a Church as solemn as this ..how wonderful to sit and think!
Located in the heart of Mojacar Pueblo, the Santa Maria Church was built in the 16th century over the remains of a mosque. The building serves as a religious and defensive fortress. The interior is simple and real, with few paintings of patron saints of the pueblo. The hilltop village is in the foothills of Sierra Cabrera Mountains. The narrow cobbled streets are full of shops and restaurants. The parking in the village is very limited, so came early in the day and park near Plaza Nueva.
