The MSU Riley Center is the renovated Meridian Opera House, and a grand renovation was done. The acoustics are terrific! Seating is very comfortable and easy to access. The shows available are well-received and of varied interests, having many entertainers of world-class fame. We have been to the Center several times, but our favorite visit was to hear Itzak Perlman play with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra.
A great venue that is intimate due to the size. It was built in the late 1800s and has been beautifully restored. They have a wide variety of shows throughout the year. I just saw "The Heart Behind the Music". Song writers and their songs. Kim Carnes, Gene Cotton, John Ford Coley, Lenny LeBlanc and Greg Barnhill. All great songwriters who performed and gave the back stories to the songs. It's worth a trip to see a show here.
I was on a road trip to Florida and planned a stop in Meridian,MS,it was a Thursday and just ate at Weidman's the oldest eating establishment in Mississippi. This is the place to go before you go up the block to the MSU Riley Center. This theater had Buddy Guy in for the evening,a welcomed surprise. My ticket was in parquet section row p seat 26 this area has beams coming down and had a little distraction to the show. After the show I would recommend the Brickhouse Bar and Grill for a large selection of local tap beers and live music on Thurs,Fri and Saturdays. This is just a short walk also.
Worth seeing and touring even if you can't make an event. Professional and Big-Name artists all are floored by the sound and the facility itself and state it frequently. Do not miss this while in Meridian!
This is a very nice facility. I visited during the Jr. Miss Pagent and found it very nice. The seating is comfortable. The design of the facility is beautiful. They have concerts and other events in the facility.
This venue is perfect! There really isn't a bad seat in the house. The acoustics really are amazing! We have been to several performances here and we are never disappointed in the venue. Most recently my son and I attended the Heart Behind the Music. You could see each artist perfectly. When you factor in traveling time and fuel, if you are in or near Meridian, your ticket is still a bargain. If you are out of town and want to see your artist up close and personal, this is your venue! It is humbling!
We have been season ticket holders to the MSU Riley Center in Meridian since the Opera House was restored. The facility is a rare GEM and every artist that performs here is awestruck! Each season the Performing Arts Series brings a variety of well known talent to our town and each performance is outstanding. My husband and I enjoy each performance and always look forward to every event.
Beautiful restoration of the opera house. Wonderful meeting venue.i used the facility for a conference and it met and exceeded all of my expectations.
A restored opera house with amazing acoustics. Beautiful and all seats are close to the entertainment. A must visit site in Mississippi.
Great facility and fun events. We particularly loved the Disney symphony where my daughters were able to get dressed up and take pictures with the Disney princesses! Very nice facilities!
