Recently I visited the little town of Montecarlo near Lucca in Tuscany. The town was originally founded in 1333 by the future Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, hence the name! It is a sleepy little town with a very small population. Montecarlo is mainly known for its wine, and there is plenty of it! The town is surrounded by vineyards that produce excellent quality wines. I had the good fortune to stop in at Buonamica Tenuta and had a great wine & cheese tasting experience and tour of the facilities. The people were warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. Great day in Tuscany!
Wonderful modern surroundings watch over a great vineyard with truly exceptional Tuscan wines - all at a very good price with excellent delivery service worldwide. Highly recommended, especially the Montecarlo DOC Rosso Etichetta Blue, the Spumante Particolare Brut and Il Fortina IGT Toscana. Very fortunate to have been able to visit the vineyard twice in the past 5 weeks. Ordered some wine on our last visit and it arrived in perfect condition and exceptionally packaged within 10 days. Truly, an exceptional vineyard, with excellent wines and overall wonderful customer service. Grazie mille !!
This is one of the "do not miss" stops on a Lucchese wine tour. Their Spumante Particolare and Montecarlo Rosso are both fantastic, and you will want to linger in their beautiful tasting room overlooking the vineyards. We booked a tour, and it included a lovely lunch here. Don't miss it.
Our host at Il Seminario in Lucca arranged for 3 friends to visit Buonamico on a beautiful June afternoon. The taxi delivered us to the front door and our experience unfurled. After a tour of the very modern winery we got serious about the wine and olive oil tasting. All wines were delicious and we were guided by our informed and warm host. She described characteristics of the wine and production encouraging us to taste oak and steel and earth. Just enough cheese and charcuterie provided us with energy to taste all the wines plus bubbly and grappa. The setting was beautiful. Wines were delicious. We had the BEST time.
I can not thank Rebecca enough for the most fantastic afternoon. She is top notch with her tour. The wines and lunch are not to be missed. It was the most beautiful afternoon spent in the Lucca vicinity. A memory I will always cherish.
A welcoming arrival from Arianna set the tone for a most enjoyable and personable wine tasting and tour delivered by Rebecca. 7 of us were joined by a another group of 6 Canadians and catered for extremely well. The tour was delivered with aplomb and questions answered eloquently. The wines were described well without the snobbish overtones. There was a wine for all tastes to be found leaving no one wanting and the young children that were part of our group never felt left out.Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon. Being used to highly commercialised wineries in NZ this was a top effort.
My girlfriend and I rented bikes from Chronobikes in Lucca where they recommended Buonamico. We phoned ahead to say we would like to have some lunch and do some wine tasting. The 'scenic route' took about two hours to get there. After having lunch we were given a tour by Rebecca who was lovely and spoke perfect English. The food and wine were great and it was exactly how we imagined a day in Tuscany
We discovered the Buonamico wines in a lovely restaurant in Lucca, looked the name up on the internet and drove up to the cute village of Montecarlo on a rainy winter's day. Arianna greeted us warmly and offered some of the wines as well as their lovely olive oil for tasting. The premises are beautifully designed, modern yet in keeping with tradition and very elegant. One can tell that there is the new generation in the business. We received information on each wine we tasted and left carrying a few crates of wine as well as sublime olive oil.... Arianna also explained the different types of guided visits on offer and we look forward to returning with friends for a full visit of the domain and some more wine tasting of new varieties in production. All in all a pleasant experience.
Gracious, beautiful and so informative. Our 4th winery tour in Italy. Staff was wonderful and views were amazing.
This was the best wine tour we have been on, everything was explained well, from harvesting the grapes, through to bottling and storing the finished wine. The lovely young woman ( who's name I have forgotten, Sorry!) who took us on the tour could not of been nicer. We took the deluxe tour and the lunch that was provided was good wholesome local cuisine. Every one in our group was impressed, we had a designated driver but the rest of us tried all the wines and made more than a couple of purchases. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone.
