Depending upon who is catering the food, it can be a very worthwhile adventure for the views and ability to move around. Loved that part but not the food so much which was cold and dry due to inexperienced caterer.
It is very interesting and relaxing. You get to see some fabulous homes and beautiful scenery.
We rode the Madam Carroll on Lake Freeman listening to the Hwy 341 Band from Wallace, IN. Band was excellent just like always; waitress was friendly and efficient; crew were friendly as we boarded and unloaded. We had a great trip! We would love to go again and enjoy other bands.
This has boat has been around since I was a kid, it's a nice place to take a cruze, drink a beer, and listen to some local talent.
Having children, my wife and I don't make it up on the Madam as much as we used to. We try to go out for a cruise once a year. Depending on the entertainment you can cruise for as low as $12 per person. Drinks from the bar are good and fairly reasonable. They also have a snack bar on the top deck with nachos, popcorn, candy, hot dogs and sodas. We like to cruise on the open, top deck on a nice summer evening and listen to the band that is down below. Cruising down below is fun as well, but gets too loud for us after a while. There are also a few good restaraunts to eat at that are close before you board the boat. We live south of Monticello and stop at the Oakdale Dam Inn at the south end of lake Freeman. You can also eat at the Sportsman Inn across the street from the Madam Carroll or the Riverside restaraunt between the twin lakes.
The price for the trip we took was excellent. The entertainment we saw and heard, Tad Robinson, was exceptional. The snack selection was lacking.
I was with my classmates for our 10 year reunion and the staff was very rude and disrespectful. upset
Nice boat ride and good food and music at a very reasonable price. Very friendly people and atmosphere.
We were with a group of 32 people in town for a Motorhome Rally and we went on the cruise on a Saturday night. Sure wish it would have left before 8:30 so we could enjoy the sights of the homes before it got dark. We all sat on the upper deck as the large room which is enclosed was a nightclub for the younger crowd with rock music. Lots of smoke.
We went to see one of our favorite bands--The Time Travelers--and really enjoyed the whole experience. :)
