very old medieval building in park with nice view over te river waal. Is nice but not top. Entrance is free but it is not always open. It is near the centre of the city so just check if its open. you can visit it for about 15 min.
A nice place to visit and take in the oldest city in The Netherlands. Peaceful location with nice views of the river.
What a find ! A beautiful park so close to city centre, no hustle or bustle just tranquil bad picturesque and historical. The presence of an ice cream van on a hot day was also appreciated. All should visit.
Nice settings and a lovely atmosphere. The park has different areas what makes it very "exciting" to walk trough the park.
As far as history recalls, this natural ice-age murene has been used as a strategic viewpoint. Different remnants of earlier building are still on site, the restored St-Nicolaas-chapel above all, which is a visitors-centre nowadays and the remnants of the Barbarossa -chapel.This small hill-like park harbours also some WO II german bunkers, of which one is currently in focus again, and possibly being opened as a historical site as well. Each year the park is being used as a festivity-spot on different occasions.Near the Valkhofmuseum, great for stretching your legs and have a good view of the 'hinterland'.
Lovely park, no one does them like the Dutch !Great viewSmall, modest, but lovely light , lots of perspectives within it, different entrances and actually there are two parts of it.It is a short walk from town centre and then on to the riverfront
Lovely place to relax first thing . You'll probably have the place to yourself . Lovely views of the river .
valkhof park is situated barely 10 mins from plein square [1944]although a very small setting it is the ideal place to take stunning pictures of the original nijmegen bridge...,standing on the bank seems to be an old lookout tower [belvedere] to which you can approach, and an old army barracks machine gun that indicates it originally guarded the bridge,...A tribute/coat of arms flower bed is located within line of the bridge making it an ideal place location to reminisce of times gone by and the traumatic times had by locals and all alike.
I visited this park last summer. Indeed it is a nice and beautiful park. Do not expect a big park as it is a small one.In a nice summer day you can do picnic and enjoy the sun there.I am recommending this park to anyone who would like to have a nice time with a beautiful scene.
Nice Parc with a great history ! Wonderful trees and great views to the river the Waal and the Waal Bridge. once there was an enormous castle at this place, the chapel is left ... If you want to work on your fitness .... there are plenty of stairs ... a real challenge.
