My wife and I spent about 30 minutes quietly walking through the basilica today. The experience was very moving for me. The atmosphere was quiet, serene, majestic, and awe inspiring. This is a crown jewel among churches. The visit was very spiritual. I regret that we couldn't spend more time. We visited on a Saturday and unfortunately the museum was closed.
There are very few Basilica's and if you don't visit ND's then you surely haved missed one of the greatest places in the world
What a beautiful church to visit and attend a service, the whole church has been redone and the colors and lighting is great.
Especially loved the stained glass windows. This Basilica is historic and not to be missed. Absolutely lovely.
A not-to-miss destination, especially for Catholics, but even if you are not. Not an item of deferred maintenance to be seen. Beautiful mass and choir!
While visiting the University of Notre Dame we stopped to see the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. The interior/exterior are beautiful. The art on the ceiling is very visually stunning and soft looking. There is a very welcome feeling when within the basilica. Not far away we also stopped for prayer at the outdoor grotto which also was visually stunning. I had never been to Notre Dame before and felt it was worth the time spent walking the campus and walking about the many buildings.
The basilica is beautiful and peaceful at the same time. We always feel welcome and the music is perfect!
We didn't actually attend service but it was amazing to just go inside and see the architecture. You can also go around outside and head to the back and purchase a rosary for a $15 donation.
Went to Mass while visiting campus, it was beautiful. The choir, was unbelievable and it was wonderful to see so many students at Mass, their parents would be proud,
There are only 7 Basilica's in the world. ONE is at Notre Dame University. Enter in reverence and leave in AW. There is no need for inspirational motivation once you enter. If this is not on your "BUCKET LIST." it should be. Stroll down to the GROTTO behind the Basilica and see another of the wonders at Notre Dame University. As you leave be sure to note the Golden Dome atop the Administration Building next to the Basilica. Then stroll over to the Library and see TOUCHDOWN JESUS facing The Stadium. Don't forget to walk around to the North end of the Library and see "FIRST DOWN MOSES."
