Notre dame football games are fun filled days from tailgating to the grotto. There are too many sights for one day on and around campus. Come check out a Irish football game for a experience you will cherish for a lifetime.GO IRISH!!!!
What a treat, true college football atmosphere, old wooden benches, no video score board, but all the feel of a great college football town. Except they got upset by Northwestern : )
In memory of my dear parents, we try to attend a home game at least every other year. We just love everything about the stadium. old, new or run down or not. Cheer Cheer for ole Notre Dame. it is what you make of it.
I really enjoyed being there to watch a game, lots of tailgating, friendly people just willing to offer you what they have cooked, met a lot of nice folks willing to help with all needs. The staff is friendly, I am disabled so they exchanged my ticket, and I was very happy access to bathrooms, and they gave me such a wonderful seat and for that I am grateful!!!!!!
Fantastic football experience. I must admit I am biased, after having 3 children graduate from Notre Dame. The tailgates are legendary, the architecture is gorgeous, and the fans are the best in the world. Even if you have on opposing team colors, a true Notre Dame fan will treat you with respect and friendship. Each ticket taker and usher will great you with "Welcome to Notre Dame." Allow time to get your picture taken in front of "Touchdown Jesus" and to make a visit to the Grotto. A walk around campus and the lakes provides many photo ops.
In memory of our dear late Grandmother who loved to cheer for and watch the Fighting Irish. We went for a weekend home game. It was not only fun to see a US college game but a great tourist place to visit. The people were totally cool, sweet and helpful, friendly and out for a good, safe, fun time. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and wanting everyone to have a good experience. The campus has so much to see and do you definitely have to allow a few hours to tour around it, on foot, nice walking. Game day comes with its own rituals and events and reco taking these in including the glee club, players walk to the stadium, tailgating or observing (we did not park on site), support local students by buying foof from their own tailgate bbqs on campus.
Have been here numerous times for football games and loved it each time I went. It is just a beautiful campus that has a "spirit" to it. You don't have to be a fan of Notre dame or catholic to enjoy a football game here. You just HAVE to go and experience this for yourself.
Notre Dame Stadium looks like it hasn't been touched since the days of Knute Rockne in the 1920s (supposedly it has been renovated several times, but apparently only for overspending alums). Nothing special here. No video board, and the scoreboard was hard to read. Certainly lacks any charm like Wrigley Field or Fenway Park, which are as old. I sat in the visiting team section way up in the corner. Needed binoculars to see anything. The snow had been cleared from most of the stadium, but maliciously left piled up only where the visiting fans were seated! Very slippery and dangerous on the steps, too. Sat on snow and had 6 inches at my feet also. Not nice. I don't understand how recruits can be impressed with the place. The game lasted 4 hours! The campus is very plain and uninspiring. Best parts of the visit: the train ride to South Bend from Chicago on the venerable South Shore Railroad; and the overtime win by visiting Northwestern. There is no reason to put this place on one's sports 'bucket list'. Just watch the games on TV!
I have been to stadiums around the country but none of them come close to the spirit of the home of the Fighting Irish! Whether you're facing Touchdown Jesus or not...it is a little slice of heaven.
I am not a fan of ND, that said if you are a football fan and have the chance to see a game at Notre Dame Stadium, do so, it is a must. Touch Down Jesus!
