My best friend and I always seek out animal excursions when we visit areas, and Sea Turtle Inc. was a great stop. The staff were enthusiastic, passionate, and informative. The place is small, but they have a goal to build a larger complex for more rehab efforts and an educational facility. Definitely worth the visit and please support their efforts to reach their goal!
This is a place where they keep sea turtles and injured ones. They have a staff speaker that educate you about the sea turtles and there habitat. The workers are doing a great job saving the sea turtles!! You can also help donate while there and online.
I have been to South Padre Island and had never gone to the Sea Turtle Inc. Its very informative and they have 3 different types of turtles that have been injured by humans or predators. I definitely recommend it for the family.
Great initiative by the staff! informative place.. Kids will thoroughly enjoy seeing the turtles up close.
Loved the information we got on the turtles and was impressed with how the turtles are healed and sent back into the wild
It's heartwarming to see the good things these people do for the injured turtles. The rehab and care is to be commended! The short talk given throughout the day is informational & educational...well worth your time to stop....and please make a donation.
Love to see the work they are doing to try and fix the sea turtles up from injuries from boat props, fishing tackle injuries or from other predators and release them back into the gulf or provide a safe haven for them. We used to try and contribute to the Idiots Club in SPI to help them with the cost ..but it was fun listening to Lesley perform, buying a t-shirt and paying membership and collecting pull tabs...we tried to do our part at the times we visited SPI.
The tanks are covered below 55 and there's only one turtle to see. We went back the next day and saw all the turtles. The viewing tanks are pretty sad but they are trying to raise money for a larger facility which they need.
A very worth while thing to see....endangered turtles and the efforts to assist them. Much of their work is done in the field so this facility is simple and enriching.
We thoroughly enjoyed touring this facility. It was fulfilling to see how the staff worked so diligently to rescue and care for these injured sea turtles.
