Well maintain. Clean and tidy. There is a lot to take in here with loads of aircraft to thoroughly view plus wartime memorabilia. There is a small screen viewing that is interesting and a great gift shop. If you are lucky - you may be there when an aircraft actually lands.
Over The Years I have visited this museum a number of times. The display has continually improved with subsequent visits. It has superbly restored aircraft ,very good displays ,story's and history, the display is set out in a way you miss nothing. I found myself going around again just soaking in what was there . Each display has very good easy to follow information, in the case of the aircraft both on type and the individuallym. If your into aircraft ,Navy , or history you should not miss this one.
We decided to check out the Fleet Air Arm Museum as part of our Honeymoon road trip. The museum is fantastic, loved getting a look into history. There are plenty of information on all the planes on exhibit. The gift shop was great for presents for those back at home, especially a 10 year old family member who is very knowledgeable about aircraft and loved seeing our photos!
I have visited this museum a number of times, and think it is one of the best kept secrets in the region. It is a well curated display, with a number of engaging stories, and well looked after aircraft. Definitely worth the visit, and I will come again.
A historically rich attraction and a great location to check out in Nowra! If you, your family or friends happen to be into historical travel sites, the FAAM does a fantastic job of displaying the history of Australia in Armed Conflict, telling the story of the RAAF and the Australian Navy. From the country's inception to present day, Australia has played some role in almost every world conflict spanning the past two centuries. Museum Highlights:- Admission is free for kids under 12 and not that expensive for adults ($12 Aussie Dollars) - They have a Helicopter Simulator- They have Hawks & Hurricanes on display - They have a Polish MiG on display which is wild- Heaps of info & awesome photography options!
Very good, better than I expected. My two boys loved it! Heaps to look at and the boys loved flying the helicopter. The café has great food too!
A great place to see some of our Fleet Air Arm history.....if you are ex Navy a must..if you are a civilian great way to see how our Fleet Air Arm evolved...My visit bought back fond memories of my time in the Royal Australian Navy...proud to be an Australian..proud to have served my country...
If you love anything military/navy this is the place for you. The kids loved the big planes and helicopters. The hangar is clean, tidy & modern. Adults $10, kids free. Most exhibits are static, however there is a helicopter simulator and a nose of a plane the kids can sit in.The gift shop has a range of Navy branded clothing and souvenirs. Unfortunately the Cafe is closed so plan to find somewhere to eat before or after. I don't think this place is advertised well enough so there isn't the foot traffic to support the sublease of the cafe. Overall this place is well worth the visit.
I can only agree with other reviewers. Wonderful collection and curating. Allow at least 2 hours. (Note cafe not open when we were there - take your own food and drink or phone first.) Highly recommended.
This museum is really good and Australian Defence is managing very well. Our kids enjoyed the helicopter simulator. You can take your own food and eat it in outside of the museum.
