The music and singing was awesome. We sat in back orchestra seats and had a great view. The acoustics were great and clear. It was perfect gift to give my wife for new years eve. I'll go back again. The symphony center is first class in decoration inside and out. Yet, you can dress casual or over the top. The groupon discount help. It worked out as buy one and get one free. There is bar service at decent prices. Best thing is to just enjoy the evening and great music.
This was our first time attending the symphony. My teenage daughter and I were very impressed with our seats, especially since we had purchased our tickets just 3 hours prior. I would try to get the private box seats next time. I'd definitively return.
Took my wife to see Kenny Rogers.....her favorite all time singer & made myself all kinds of points!!!! This place is totally awesome....great design! Even the little restaurant inside was great. All the staff was super helpful & nice.......the only downfall is the price of their mixed drinks.....how can you charge $18.00 for two rum & cokes in those tiny plastic cups??? It wasn't even any special rum either......I would think over $100.00 a ticket would have covered any over pricing of drinks!!
My husband and I have been season ticket holders to the Pops Symphony at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center since it opened its doors - approximately 9 years ago. We drive from southern Kentucky every month during the season to attend the events and it is well worth the drive. It has been one of the best investments that we have made in entertainment because of the variety of performances offered and because of the amazing talent of the Nashville Symphony! The events are so relaxing and enriching when the symphony plays. Many of the players are instructors in Vanderbilt's Music program and they are just phenomenal musicians. What can we say but 'WOW' about the symphony hall! It is one of the best and the sound in that facility is just perfect! One might think that the symphony performances are out of reach in price but that is NOT the case. There are plenty of good seats at all price levels. We are fortunate to have the Schermerhorn Symphony Hall..
We went to see the Styx show on Friday night. The symphony was supposed to play along with them, but due to the ice storm they were well advised to stay home. Nonetheless, Styx put on a wonderful show and because many patrons didn't come out for the show, there was plenty of good seating and the folks in charge offered for anyone to sit wherever they liked. Everyone was in a great mood and nobody minded if you went down to the front near the stage to take photos. As we were exiting the building however, we found the steps to be extremely icy and I actually took a spill. Fortunately I didn't fall down the steps all the way, and getting up was very difficult as the railing was also covered with ice. I felt that someone could have done a better job of making sure the steps (or at least a portion of them) were salted to make it safer. I only have a bruised knee, but it could have been way worse, I hope others didn't have any problems. I realize that this is a rare event (ice storm in Nashville) but the safety of the patrons should have been on the minds of the administration or managers.
I was in town for business and saw that they had an Legend of Zelda Symphony in Orchestra- This venue is very beautiful on the inside and sound quality is impeccable. The valet service is very reasonable and the staff was very helpful.
Thank you for the wonderful review. We loved having you and look forward to seeing you again!
Great night. Beautiful building. Smaller orchestra but the sound was wonderful. An awesome, culminating end to a great night.
My husband and I went to the Symphony at 6 pm on New Year's Eve to hear elections from Gershwin, Kern, and many more. The show was absolutely wonderful with outstanding entertainment. The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is beautiful and I would highly recommend it be a number one choice for entertainment plans. It is located in downtown Nashville, which is really a great place. Easy parking, even when 100,000 people were downtown waiting for the "Note" to drop at midnight.
My daughter and I ventured to Nashville for a mini vacation. Since my daughter is a french horn player, we naturally wanted to visit the symphony. They were playing Mahler's Ninth. The venue was amazingly beautiful. But that wasn't even a testament to the symphony. They played beautifully and passionately. I could FEEL the notes being played. A well, done standing ovation to the wonderful players. Get there early and get a drink and wander the premises and gift shop for a simply magical evening!
