It has a great outside (or inside) atmosphere and the food is quite nice. I really enjoy the iced coffee and they have a good selection of drinks and cocktails.
We had lunch here after returning from a safari. The food and beverages were very good and its a beautiful setting. We found a lot of nice gifts very reasonably priced in the gift shop also. Beautiful flowers and statues at the entrance
A great place to have lunch on a sunny Nairobi afternoon. The service is good and the food tasty. But the garden is delightful.
As a Nairobi resident I waited until an out-of-town visitor came before trying this restaurant for lunch. We came because I've been told that this is a great place for lunch in Karen. I made a reservation, and when we arrived were promptly seated in a nice round table, outside, under a beautiful shade tree. On the table was a 3-course menu, where we could choose from one of two appetizers, main and dessert. There was no price listed for the set nor were we offered an a la carte menu. It wasn't until after our waiter took our orders, did we see other patrons being offered menus that I even realized something was amiss. No worries though, because the food was amazingly delicious with immaculate presentation. The service was good, they came often, but not too much. Once I realized how long it would take for our food between courses, I wanted a glass of wine but refrained an order because it did take a long time initially for our drinks to arrive and didn't want to risk having my wine with dessert. I've been to the other outdoor eateries in Nairobi during my time here and wouldn't necessarily recommend someone come to this specific one. It was okay for what it was -- a quite place for a peaceful lunch between tours in the area (Kazuri Beads, Ocean Soles, Karen Blixen Museum).
This is a jewel, it is a preservation of history, culture and nature. The back ground music is splendour the staffs are clean and the facilities give you are reason to go back.
Very attractive grounds and a lovely cafe with a fairly complete menu. Food was good, service attentive and the price fairly reasonable. You could do much worse.
guided tour just for you or your group, not much more information than you would have learned watching the movie; nicely designed house; the nearby restaurant is excellent
Beautiful home and setting. Interesting history - staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Worth a visit.
Following an energetic morning looking at Elephants and Giraffes this made a great place to pause for lunch in Karen before going back to Nairobi. The restaurant is set in a lush garden which is very pleasant and the food whilst not the cheapest in town is high quality as is the service. We thought it was on a par if not better value than the Fairview in town. There is also a 1908 house which serves as the reception to the hotel and also has a small gift shop. Ample parking.
This charming house and grounds were definitely worth a visit. You get an individual guide who will tell you all about the history of the place. It takes about 30-40 minutes to go through.
