A very small winery located in the Nelson151 trail. This was sadly not a favorite of mine. I only liked 1 wine from vineyard which was the Thomas Nelson. Not worth the time or drive to revisit.
The hostess was really nice, as was the gift shop. But there were only 3 wines to sample, and the best wine of all was sold out.
we stopped by wintergreen winery becasue ti was open later than most and were not disappointed. The samples were all excellent and we brought some cab franc home for further study.
Staff are friendly and will gladly go over the wines with you at a reasonably priced tasting. To be honest, I didn't think the wines were all that good, though their blackberry dessert wine was rather tasty. However, it was still a very pleasant experience, enhanced by the great location alongside the Rockfish creek.
This was the 1st winery we visited on the Nelson 151. They open at 10 and we were the only folks there, so definitely got personalized treatment. Enjoyed sharing a tasting between the two of us and also purchased a rose. Lovely views of the mountains.
Wintergreen Winery is one of the best wineries around Nelson County - and there are many! All of the wines are delicious, and the staff is friendly and engaging. Our daughter in California made us promise not to visit unless we were bringing a bottle of the Raspberry wine with us! Owners Jeff and Tamara are great people who enjoy sharing their love of wine and the area with everyone they meet. Their special food or chocolate pairing events are unbelievable! We've attended for the last 4 years! They are amazing!
I was disappointed by the limited offerings, and the average taste of the wine. The building is kind of neat, and they had an area to eat some food as well (not sure if they served food or not). The woman who poured for us was friendly. Just didn't really care for what she was pouring.
The setting is just lovely.I loved the sweet raspberry dessert wine; we both enjoyed the two whites (non-Chardonnays).The young lady pouring for us was witty, personable, and fun; we loved her!The tasting price was our only complaint: $5 to taste just a bit of five wines.
This is a cute winery along Rt 151 which offers GREAT views of the mountains around. The grounds are very average and so is the inside of the tasting room, nothing spectacular. The staff was very nice. The wines they offer are average, worth a try.
Wine was pretty tasty, loved the stemless glasses we recieved. Worth a stop for a tasting. Not my favorite wine, but they definitely have a few pretty good ones.
