The museum closed. The owners took their private collection elsewhere. But the bike ride down route 9 between Newcastle and Delaware city is very nice. there is a festival in October built around this ride.
A collector who wants to share their passion for cycling history opened this quirky store-front museum on the main street in this quiet little town. It is only open Saturdays from 11-5 (free). Worth planning as a destination if you are a serious cycle buff, otherwise it is a nice place to stop by for an hour while you are in town for other reasons.
The owner of the collection moved it out of state and there is now a restaurant there that is run by the people who ran the museum. It was closed the day I was there.
I traveled to this museum with my 4 year-old son. He loved walking though the exhibits. The people who run the shop are very friendly and I was impressed that they took the time to talk to my son and answer his questions even though the museum was quite busy that afternoon.
