Just stumbled on to this. Kids love it, they had water shoes on walking in the pond. Starfish, and other small sea creatures.
Always a pleasant place to spend some quiet time. An easy walk from New Harbor, Shaws Lobster Wharf and Harborside Cottage.
Not sure why there is so much hype over this tidal pool, but it is a stinky tidal pool that you may not want to walk around in. We have stopped several times and have never found anything nice about it. There are so many other coastal spots nearby, and they are magnificent. Skip this one.
We recently spent the morning at the salt pond with our two kids and it was an amazing place for the little people. It was a quite little pocket of serenity with an vast ocean backdrop. The salt pond was teaming, full of life and the kids found many things to explore. The other visitors there were also extremely respective of the preserve often sharing finds with others. I would recommend it coupled with a visit to the Pemaquid lighthouse.
We used to stop here on our way to have dinner at Shaw's Fish & Lobster Wharf when our niece and nephews where younger. Kids will enjoy exploring in the salt pools while the adults admire the ocean views and ocean front properties.
It's a very small, rocky beach that would be best to explore at low tide. Children who are curious about seashore creatures will enjoy exploring. And geology fans will enjoy the many shapes of rocks.
Chance stop proved to be rewarding here. Beautiful ocean view, stone beach. Nature conversancy has done good job of preserving this spot in honor of Rachel Carson.
Nothing to dislike! Well, some killer mosquitoes early in the season, true -- but a lovely view leading out of New Harbor to the ocean.
Lovely spot! Spend an hour wading, turning over rocks hunting for green crabs. A great place to be close to nature.
you can stop along the road, walk down to the rocky beach and pond and observe the birds and wildlife in the area. on this trip there was a fox searching the area and at low tide, very interesting items in the tidal pond. take a few minutes or just sit on the rocks and enjoy the sights and sounds.
