Do you see what strange animals we are as human beings? Another voyager commented- nothing special.Well, it all depends on your benchmarks, on your expectations and .... on your MOOD!Probably I still keep inside me sort of a childish curiosity, the way of looking at things that sprinkles everything with a bit of magic. And, someone also said - the beauty is in the eyes of who watches..At any rate, what's about Parc Phoenix in Nice? Imagine: you are within the noise hussle and pollution of a big town, when past across an agglomeration of futuristic , ice-cold glazed office buildings, suddenly a huge lawn opens up , surrounded by a majestic alley of tall exotic palms swinging in the breeze, a lake pervaded of an oriental atmosphere with the pleasant sound of flowing waters, swans and ducks of all shapes and colours, peacocks grazing around... You haven't had the time to be pleasantly surprised , that the children already scream in enthusiasm staring at a tribe of otters making their performances in a pool where you can follow them even when dancing under water..Some other exotic animals are scattered along the big park, wallabies, turtles, monkeys ,african birds and parrots urge cries of pleasure from children of all ages. But the really amazing thing is the gigantic greenhouse hosting in different sections the different climates of the world. So, be prepared to put on and off the layers of your clothing when you pass from a climate to another. The largest section displays a real jungle with rare specimens from all tropical areas of the world. Fantastic shapes and colours that you seldom can see all together in a real eye-catching parade. Out of the building, the beautiful park shows many plants that thrive well in the pleasantly mild Riviera climate, an ideal background for the many newly-wed couples that come here to be portraited in a splendid scenery for an important (!) day in their lifetime.Don't miss this affordable visit ( 3 Euro) especially in Winter when elsewhere people shivers with cold and fog
ok, this is no Kew Garden, but the glass house is still worth visiting if you have a few free hours. A small menagerie also adds to the attraction. Easily reached by bus from the Promenade des Anglais. Cheap to get in, and there are cafes here to help keep you going.
Nice place to sit down and relax, you can take pictures or take a shower :) Its absolutely lovely here
Only 3 euros to get in and this does include the Asiatic Museum, so just about worth it. The zoo and dancing fountains are a bit feeble but the glasshouse is impressive. In a slightly dodgy area.
Botanical park with a zoo and reptile house with massive greenhouse.Full of surprises and well worth 3 euros.
A beautiful park in Nice, the children enjoyed the lemur vari and the wallabies. The price is cheap 2 euros and free for children under 12, a very beautiful place to visit. We will definitely visit again during our next stay in Nice.
I like the plants, the animals, the playgrounds for children, the fountains, the different places are clean. We can have pic nic in the gardens,I disliked the fact that I had to leave early.... and could not see the whole parc, we will return!
this botanical garden and park is the perfect place to take your kids out. They can see lots of exotic animals also. The place is close to the airport so you need to take a local bus from city center. The ticket entrance is very cheap
Don't cancel other plans to visit this place. It's very average and done in few hours. Great park but limited animals.
The Phoenix Park is a great little botanical garden set very close to Nice Airport. Alas we visited on a day when the weather left a little to be desired, so we didn't see the outside features and gardens at their best. However, the themed areas of the inside displays are well presented and very interesting. Sadly some of the areas do look quite tired and need a small amount of investment (particularly the insect section).
