Very unsettling and takes time to understand what occurred so many years ago. The area is so vast, I'm glad we had a car to move around it.
This is the place you have seen so many times in the WWII documentaries and now you can say, "I went there". Incredible to see how well it was built and the massive scale of it.
Worth walking around after hearing about the area in the documentation centre. The scale needs to be seen to be believed. Hard to imagine the size of the place had it been finished. Everything is on a massive scale.
The Nazi Party Rally Grounds is said to be one of the "must see" places in Nuremberg and after visiting it, I can completely agree! We had an English speaking guide who explained with great detail what went on there in the mid 1930's and after the tour we walk around these grounds. It was cold, dark, overcast day as we walked where more than a million people came each year from 1933 - 1938 to celebrate the rising power of the National Socialist Party. If in the area, its a must see!
Walked part of this enormous stadium where Hitler would speak to the multitudes. He would enter from the back onto a stage taht would then be illuminated with search lights forming an arch over him.Charisma is just that and we must always be aware of the words behind the charisma.
It's a complete experience to known further about the history of the National-Socialist Party, with audio in many languages and different ways to show what happened in Nuremberg, Germany and Europe. However, it takes place in a historic building, where Hitler gave some of his most famous speeches, and maybe the exhibition which takes place there nowadays could be designed in a way that this old building was shown a little bit more, embracing some references to its elements.
This place is huge and it pays to have a guided tour so that you understand just what the Nazi party did in the 1930s and the lead up to the second world war.Had Hitler finished this it would have been unbelievable and one can understand just how the people were duped by this regime. One wonders just how much slave labour was even used in building this part?
