I have atteneded many performances here (and am an avid theatre goer). The perfomances are usually very well staged, sets are intricate, and the caliber of the actors is high. I am very impressed with Milburn Stone Theatre as a community theatre.
Milburn Stone Theatre is a hidden gem in tiny little North East, MD. This gorgeous facility hosts a full season of great plays and musicals - everything from Shakespeare to Shrek! I have never seen a bad production here - it's well worth a visit.
We have attended a great number of plays at the theatre but this viewing of Spamalot was the best by far we have seen. (Followed closely by Young Frankenstein) The accents were incredible, the jokes perfectly timed, it held true to my former Spamalot experiences. I was extremely pleased with all of the play, I laughed and sang and left really happy. The performers we absolutely top notch and the theatre is always comfortable, clean and nice. (often a little chilly but always nice) The cast and all of the staff are always so welcoming and kind. I cant wait to see what they will do next! I feel terribly my husband missed the performance because we had to reschedule due to the weather. I wish it had ran longer, because I would have come back and saw it again!!
It is a shame this theater isn't more visible. I have attended on numerous occasions. This isn't dinner theater at a community college. I don't know how the theater attracts the talent that performs there, but the quality of their production of "Noises Off" a couple of years ago was what I would have expected to see at one of the Philadelphia theaters. This is an unfortunately well-hidden gem.
Our first time at The Milburn Stone was a fabulous experience. The theatre itself is great with the stage on the same level as the house seats. Not bad seat in the house as they are very vertical. We will be returning for sure!!
Very nice theatre, not a bad seat in the house. Great shows at an affordable price that anyone can enjoy and evening or matinee of pure joy. Great performances by college and locals combined. Many times our local Dance Studios will also put on their performances there and that too is so wonderful watching our young people at their finest. You can get information of the next showings by calling the Cecil College or of course going to their Wed site.
The Milburn Stone (remember him from the early TV show Gun smoke-Doc?). This wonderful man helped local Cecil College get its theatre programs in gear. If you are in the area stop in and get a show ticket. If not, go online to cecilcollege.org and see what's playing.
Great shows for a great price! We attend shows several times a year and they rarely disappoint. They recently won Best Theatre in the 2012 BWW Baltimore Awards. Congratulations! If you haven't been - call the box office and give it a try.
I am always more impressed with the productions each time we go. What a great way to spend and evening. A must try, you'll be hooked too!
My wife and I go to most of their shows all year. Good seating low price. Parking is easy. The sound is clear. The scenery can be breath taken for a small theater. It's easy to get into and leave. The seats are comfortable.
