Circuit Avenue has seen some unhappy changes but all in all it's still a shopping Mecca. The Flying Horses( the oldest carousel in the USA) is still up & running & hasn't changed
Nice shops. Fantastic places to eat. Visit Erik at the Oak Bluffs Inn and ask if he has vacancies. Great B&B!
Circuit Ave is the heart of Oak Bluffs. Here you find many shops and restaurants. It is fun just to walk along and just watch all the excitement. Get Ben & Bills ice cream!!!
I have been going to Martha's Vineyard, specifically Oak Bluffs, for the last 20 years. My family has a house in Oak Bluffs and Circuit Avenue is where everything is located around. The campground main entrance is off of Circuit Avenue. The tabernacle is at the foot of Circuit. There are many mainstay restaurants on Circuit avenue including Linda Jeans, Ben & Bills, Mad Martha's, Sharky's and just off of Circuit is Off Shore Ale. There are a number of shops including the Black Dog Store (there are many on the island now, the main one being near the restaurant in Vineyard Haven). If you are going to Oak Bluffs in Martha's Vineyard, you need to stop by Circuit Avenue for the full experience.
What is not to like about it! Great shops. Just love the hustle bustle of the area! Just love everything about it!
If you like to shop you'll like Circuit Ave. It has something for everyone in quaint little shops with some fun restaurants/bars thrown in.
As other reviewers have noted, Circuit Ave. has all kinds of shops and restaurants. Since we visited in September, we did not have to fight the summer crowds. We enjoyed walking around checking out the various stores and restaurants. They had ice cream parlors (some that also offered soup and sandwiches), coffee shops, pricey restaurants, and places for the budget conscious to eat. The ferry disembarked at Circuit Ave., so it was the first thing we saw, which was great since we just happened to be starving at that time!
we had a great time walking and shopping down Circuit Ave. Bill and Bens Chocolate Emporium and Martha's Vineyard Chowder Company are great. And the World's Oldest Carousel in the Flying Horse.
When in Oak Bluffs, Circuit Ave. is the heartbeat. while not that long in distance, it is filled with virtually everything from restaurants, clothing shops, supermarket, liquor store, music store, bakeries, an arcade and good old-fashioned tourist shops. And there is more to do and see on the adjacent street! There are several alley accesses the tiny gingerbread cottages surrounding the famous Tabernacle. And not to far off Circuit Ave is the oldest operating carousel in the US, The Flying Horses. It may be a very short distance from one end of Circuit Ave to the other, but it could take you hours to do it!
Circuit Avenue is great to stroll, with coffee shops, ice cream parlors, souvenir shops, all different kinds of restaurants (from diner to upscale).
