the ocean grove beach was the best beach i have ever been to in australia just be careful for the crabs in the ocean because one bit me and i had a crab infection also great for dogs.
Ocean Grove is a "dry" town created in 1869 for the Methodist camp movement. Though I am an atheist, I found the town beautiful, quiet and meditative. There's nothing I disliked about it.
In the Winter you have the beach and boardwalk almost all to yourself. All you need is a warm coat, hat and gloves. And there's plenty of parking anywhere you go.
Had dinner 3 nights on beachfront restaurants - all good . Boardwalk had been repaired making it look like nothing happened . Nice central beachfornt area with many different shops . Beach was clean and large , maybe 100 + yd wide
I really only like the atlantic beaches in sept/may for this reason- low humidity, less people. OG was a methodisst retreat in the 1880's and is a small victorian village now.
You don't have to be a Christian to appreciate Ocean Grove; once you go through the gates, you know there is something different about this place. If you are Christian, you will love the daily Bible studies, Sunday preaching and Christian based activities. But there's also secular bands, fabulous shops and wonderful B&Bs. And I haven't even mentioned the history! (Search Great Auditorium and/or Ocean Grove tents.) I love to see the first timers' reactions to our tiny town.
I enjoyed being out here to just get away from the busy noisy New York City Life! I always have fun here, because I get to go to the Auditorium to see the Christian Artists in Concert. My Mom & I just love to go to the Boardwalk and look at the Beautiful Ocean!
Time has stood still in this little heaven on the Jersey Shore. From the shops, the people and the actual beach my family & I can't get enough of it.Totally worth it for a stress free relaxing environment that's calming & family friendly. This community is small, so don't expect hundreds of restaurants and chain retail. There are owners and shopkeepers for decades - that will remember your name year after year. Small shops, local restaurants and an environment that welcomes you with easy parking, smiling faces and people who want you in their community.I can't say enough about Ocean Grove but to go visit...you won't be disappointed.
love the Victorian architecture and the gorgeous gardens all through the town. and love that the town is "dry" - I can go to adjacent towns for nightlife, I can enjoy my own glass of wine at the bed and breakfast, but town being dry means the streets are quiet at night, and you can hear the surf instead of hearing raucous drunks
Family friendly beach.... Lots of children playing together and groups of strangers that become life long friends. Once you go there you will never go anywhere else.
