This is my 4th time rafting and would say the best along with Pocono's.Timely, experienced and caring.
Last year my group and I were lucky enough to get "Dingo" as our guide. This year we requested him! All around, the guides are very knowledgeable of the river and surrounding areas. Safety and fun are their top priorities and they exceed in both. We will definitely be returning next year.
I highly recommend Adirondack River Outfitters for white water rafting! I have rafted with them twice now, both times on the Black River. All of the guides/employees are extremely energetic and they really seem to truly love their jobs! Our guide was Erica and she was incredible. She had a great personality and made us feel comfortable right from the start. It was very clear that she knew every twist and turn of the river, and I felt completely safe throughout the entire trip. The Black River in August/early September is the perfect time for beginners and those who are looking for an adventurous and exhilirating ride! I loved the mid-trip snack and lemonade, as well as the barbeque at the end of the trip. I love this company, and will most definitely be back again next year! So much fun!
Our rafting trip on the Hudson River with Adirondack River Outfitters was awesome! The staff did a great job letting us know what to expect and how to safely handle any situation that might arise------DON'T STAND UP IN THE RIVER. Our guide Kevin was fantastic. He had a great personality and really seemed to know what he was doing. The rapids were fun and not overwhelming with plenty of time between to relax and swim. You might as well get out of the boat and swim at the first stop because you are going to get soaked a few minutes later anyway! The snack was great but the chicken was a little disappointing. We weren't there for the food though! We will be back!
It was the first time my husband and I and our friends had been white water rafting, we had the best time! We are so glad we had Alex, he is a wonderful guide. We will definitely do it again.
Couldn't have been better. River was running high. Class 4 all the way. Went with my 3 sons.2 were 20 plus and my young son being 11. Dylan our guide was very experienced and knowledgeable. Could not take the smiles off of all our faces as the trill of the river set the pace. This was the best Father's Day ever!Rick in Vermont.
We went after a lot of rain so there was a LOT of water! The rapids were amazing! Our boat was the lead boat and 5 out of 7 of us went flying over another person and into the water. There were some injuries but they were professionally addressed. I would not recommend this trip for children. The food was amazing and the staff was great.
I took a group of 12 friends on the Black River trip on a Sunday. Several were first timers. Everyone had a great time and can't wait to go again. This was my first time using ARO. The word that kept jumping to mind for me was "professional" from start to finish. I'd estimate the total size of the group at around 60 people that day and sometimes things can drag when you're processing that many people, but ARO really kept things moving. We didn't have to wait in long lines to sign the waiver and get our paddles / vests / helmets. The safety talk started on time, was informative, and not dragged out unnecessarily like I've seen at other places. They assigned groups to rafts / guides which I thought was great as it avoided a free for all of 60+ people trying to find a raft all at once. Our guide quickly organized us and we did about 5 minutes of practice prior to setting off. We found out at the end of the trip that it was our guide's first solo trip with a raft group. I would have thought he had been doing it ten years. He prepped us for each rapid with a plan ahead of time which was very helpful. No one got bounced out of the boat the entire trip. Other things of note: - About half way through there's a carry out where they provide a snack (some kind of peanut butter and honey burrito thing and a drink).- There are two spots where you can swim if you choose to. - Beer / water is provided at the end of the trip. At the end all rafts are lashed together and towed out by a power boat. The tow out took around 20 minutes followed by a 20 minute or so bus ride back to the start point. - Once back at the start point they provide a small buffet (bread, salads, chicken breast). You can buy a photo DVD of the trip for $40. They have a laptop you can preview the pictures on. My only suggestion for improvement would be a bigger changing area for after the trip. It was pretty small for a group that large, but many changed in their cars. Also maybe add some curtains as the men's changing room door opens directly onto the main lobby and the lobby gets a pretty good look whenever someone goes in or out :) Overall, ARO provided exactly what my friends and and I were looking to get out of this trip and I won't hesitate to use them again in the future.
Four of us did the Black River Run with ARO in Watertown. Our guide, Chris, was excellent. He was extremely personable, humourous and very knowledgeable. All staff members were friendly which made the whole excursion very enjoyable. The all you could eat chicken and beer barbecue at the end was very tasty and was a perfect way to end the day.
I was a little nervous going into this having never rafted before but these people were fantastic, incredibly knowledgeable, showed us exactly what we need to do and showed us some incredible sites along the way. I would absolutely do it again
