We have visited Nisqually Wildlife reserve many times over the last year. Each season has something different to offer. We have seen ospreys, bald eagles, blue Herron, many species of waterfowl as well as frogs all along the boardwalk. Take a picnick lunch to enjoy. There is also a gift shop with information on all the many creatures that call the reserve home.
This is a small education center staffed by volunteers. They have a great pier to view the water, but it was closed when I went. They have stuffed animals and lots of info about the estuary. They have a few tanks to check out the ocean critters. This is a nice place to go, even for a group.
This is a spectacular romantic stroll, exercise walk, educational field trip for youth and adults alike. Even if you're not a nature buff, this beautiful center will touch everyone n some anner!
I waited all summer to visit, then wished I visited sooner. Plenty of boardwalk for a nice stroll or bring your binoculars for the birds. I'll definitely go often next summer. After talking to other visitors, much of the boardwalks are new. Try to go at high tide.
This is a great place for Birders to visit. I'm simply a nature lover but I appreciate how thrilled the bird photographers are who visit this facility. The center itself is modern, well staffed, does not have food service, has well maintained trails that are either gravel or nicely done elevated wood plank walks. Safe, beautiful views of marsh, tidelands, and Puget Sound.
Beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature, birds, and the forest. We have enjoyed the board walk through the forest onto the basin where the river runs into it, while ducks and bird watching on early mornings you can see the owls before they go into there nest alone with deer on the trails. We have enjoyed Nisqually for 20 years it sits right off I-5. people don't take the time to enjoy nature in the Nisqually river basin.
Such a great walk into nature and enjoy the scenery away from all the traffic and troubles of encroaching society. Who knows what you will see. Time to reflect on the best scenery of the basin.
If you are looking for a nice walk, this is the place to go. Many different species of wildlife and view of Puget Sound. Well maintained.
This was such an enjoyable walk. Tons of geese out squawking and honking. Lots of picture opportunities galore. There are a few trails to choose. We did the one out to the viewing platform and it was flat all the way. A great place to let the kids run free. Also take a picnic lunch and eat by the old barns still standing.
It was very . . . natural, rustic, and untouched by people and tourista. It is pretty cool and a really great nature walk. Inside the gift shop was some very friendly ladies!!! It's a good place to take company and a good place for a nice long walk. I can't remember if it's pet friendly, but I don't see why it wouldn't be. If you are in to nature photography, you will have plenty of chances here! I would go back.
