The Oaks is really a great course! From clubhouse to final hole everything is top shelf accommodations! The clubhouse is large and easy to get to from US-54 highway. There is a valet to grab your clubs out of your car and put them back in for you! Plenty of gear and eats in the clubhouse. There is a driving range and putting green to get you warmed up before playing. A beautiful 6432 yards of Bruce Devlin inspired fairway, sand hazards, and water to test your golfing skill. Several holes have water and plenty of it. Beautifully groomed fairways and greens. The greens are a little slick, so be gentle with downhill putts! Almost all greens are protected by sand, but it is the fluffiest sand I have ever played in! I didn't even mind when my approaches ended up in the hazard, because I knew it would be possible to still save par. The ninth hole is one to remember! A long dogleg right, then downhill to a green protected by a lovely waterfall! The par-3s are reachable, but many of them are downhill and the distance will fool you. Especially, if the wind is swirling toward the tee! The final 18th is a blind uphill shot over water, then downhill to the green. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
I am an interpreter who USED to go yearly for the October conference. The resort looks dirty, needs updates to the décor, and most importantly, needs ventilation in the women's bathroom. Smells like feces each time you go in it. Also, one year I had to switch rooms because it was right by the elevators and the walls were paper thin. Another year I had to have housekeeping come re-clean my room because there was make up on the pillow case and loose hairs all over the bathroom floor. ANOTHER year I had to switch rooms because of the smell of mold, as well as the visual mode. Save your energy, rent a condo nearby.
The course was beautiful and challenging but not to the point of frustration. A great place to play ! Staff was awesome
Played in early April, fairways haven't come in yet but the course was still in good shape. The tee boxes were consistently good, the fairways were soggy with the wet weather we had been having, so playing the ball down wasn't possible. The greens had plenty of slope and were consistently in good shape and slightly faster than average. The bunkers were in good shape, with hard not fluffy sand. The staff was very friendly and helpful. That early in the year there weren't many people playing so the pace of play was great.Enjoyed playing here and would be happy to play again.
The course is well laid out and was in great shape for mid summer when we were there. The staff was very friendly, helpful and wanted to make sure that everyone was well taken care of. We had a great day of play.
Lots of things to do and food is slightly above average. But the years have not been kind here and rooms need a big update.
We haven't golfed at a lot of different courses (maybe 10), so we don't have a lot of room to compare, but we really like this course. The property is very well groomed, the staff is excellent and course is challenging, but not too difficult even for the semi-amateur golfer.
Enjoyed playing this course....not to long and beautiful homes along the way!! The pro-shop employees were great, gave us some helpful hints for each hole and provided great service.
A good test of golf. Lots of elevation changes, tight holes requiring good crisp shots. Large bunkers and water make this a challenging yet very enjoyable course to play. I look forward to playing this course every time I'm in the area to play golf.
In the years I've been playing at the lake I haven't played this course until recently. What a surprise. A reasonably priced course, which is well maintained, scenic and beautiful. Unlike the courses at Four Seasons this course actually has sand in the bunkers, not rocks or grass. The cart path is in good shape. Even the on course restrooms are nicely decorated and well maintained - not concrete after thoughts like some other courses nearby. The Oaks is fun to play and pretty challenging.
