A marvelous collection of historical homes and shops from different ages in Denmark, from old medieval houses to modern day shops. All those buildings are real and were carefully, painstakingly moved from its original locations in whole Denmark to this place, composing a chamed town which has from small artisan shops to old pharmacies to modern exhibition halls to... many other houses, all beautifully maintained and cared.A must do while in Aarhus.I suggest giving it at least four hours to visit all places and taking time to watch closely all aspects and details.
I am an American living in Denmark for the past three years. I first lived in Denmark for one year in the late 1990s and returned perhaps 15 to 20 times prior to moving here. Each time I visited, I made a point of going to Den Gamle By ("the old town"), which is now accompanied by "Den Ny By" ("the new town") as a single open air museum. Focusing on Den Gamle By, it is a collection of about 100 buildings from all over Denmark assembled into a Danish village from the Hans Christian Andersen period (1864), with characters in period costume. Each building has been taken apart and reassembled "brick by brick and stick by stick". Most of the buildings have displays ... a period dry goods store, the mint masters home, a bakery, and much more. Do you really want to know how much I like Den Gamle By? Well enough to have a second wedding ceremony there in 2010, performed by the village "priest" -- who really does have a PhD in theology.Go, learn, enjoy, relax, eat at a terrific restaurant -- or have a hot dog and beer or soft drink. This really is a place for the whole family.
The attraction represents Denmark between XVI and XX centuries. It was really interesting for me and my friends.
This beautiful old village in the heart of Aarhus is a monument to the Danish history. We loved it!If you are in Aarhus on a holiday pay a visit to this place you won't regret it. .
探索老镇的房屋,拜访老商店,所有的房子都是原始的装饰。不要急,慢慢地在镇上转转。我建议早点去,然后在镇上走走(不要有太多人一起去)。
This is a great place to visit and see how Danes lived. You can see a well preserved area with old buildings, stores, restaurants and different this if how things worked a long time ago. It's very well taken care of, they have activities and is also very nice for a walk. If you are in Aarhus you definitely have to go and take a look.
Walking through the past history is like being born Again and as a child Watch all the historic Buildings and their interiors showing their historic kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms in their prehistoric fashion. Something to go for even on a rainy day.
Great place to experience history in action. The new 1974 neighborhood brings me back to my childhood. And you can bring your dog, as long as it doesn't enter the buildings.
Fascinating look at times gone by! Superb museum, so much to see. Leave plenty of time to see it all - at least 3 hours - as its huge (we ran out of time!).Not suitable for those with reduce mobility - lots of cobbles and stairs. English descriptions throughout. Good value for the entrance fee compared to other prices in Denmark.Recommended
