I gave this park a great rating because of the location and proximity to the ocean beach. The sites are close together and don't offer very much privacy. There are no camp fires at the site, just on the beach. Most sites have power, there is water available at the entrance to the park. There is also a great little river/stream that runs right next to the park and into the ocean. This is a great place to fly a kite if you have one.
I noticed campers, tents, picnic tables, and parking spots. Short trail to beach. the shower facilities were great designed for short and tall people. You have to pay for the hot water, but the cold water was fine for washing the sand off. The toilet facilities were clean and did not smell.
If you are planning to camp. Go to Ocean City State park. The sites are nicer and wooded there. These sites at Pacific Beach are open grass sites with a parking spot. If you are not camping (like us), you will need a Discover Pass. The beach is nice. I like that there are not cars driving by. I don't have to worry about my children hit by cars on the beach. Expect more nature and quiet here. I just cant give it a great rating because really the beach is not special. Just a patch of sand with access to it, no views.
While staying at the Sand Dollar Inn I walked through the State Park. There are 65 sites and it is write on the beach. Back up your motorhome and have a view of the ocean and hear it all night. Clean public facilities for showering and bathrooms. I noticed the do allow tents. Great spot and little known area. Right on the Beach....
Beautiful beach, great beach combing, and wildlife viewing. Unfortunately though, we went expecting to stay in a yurt, which was available, even though we did not reserve it. But because the camp host was nowhere to be seen and not even on site when we rolled in ( not late) we could not stay. We were forced to look for other accommodations.
Great place to go during the winter. Clean facilities and you are right on the beach! Get's crowded during the summer so beware.
Very close to the beach but little to no privacy in any of the spots. This park is within walking location to downtown Pacific Beach as well as the beach itself. Fabulous location.
This is a great location if you are looking to get away from it all, however, it is not anything like other coastal Washington State parks. No privacy - RV lots with the beach nearby. That is about it. Nice if you don't mind communal living. Not much here for kids either.
We're really looking forward to camping at this small state park. It's right on the beach! Water hookups only for RV's but there's a dump station. We were pleased to see a camp host too.
This is the best place to camp with your family, if you want to spend all your time on the beach. If you have an RV even better, pull up right to the beach and enjoy looking at the ocean all day long.
