Well worth a visit, if you can get there. Excellent walk around a man made lake. Beautiful views and we even spotted a few blue tongued lizards!
This place is beautiful. The lake has ducks swimming around it and is in a lovely bushland setting. There is a great playground here also that our son loved to play at as well as a cafe. A great spot to play, relax and enjoy.
Lake parramatta has patrolled swimming in the lake now. There is a roped off area, life guards to keep a watchful eye on you. Free parking, cafe, and toilets. BBQ area if you are quick enough and picnic seats and huts with tables.....loverly playground for children.....
I went to Lake Parramatta last week, first time as an adult. I'm 61..what a beautiful relaxing place, nature walks, picnic facilities, BBQ , ducks to feed and history. You can not swim there due to the ducks have polluted the water but the water is clean to look at, it was such a clean place. It was Australia' s first dam, and the 12 th dam built in the world. There is a little restaurant there in an old house ,keeping in character to the setting. I will taking my friends for a morning tea tour, taking muffins and tea then on the bush walk. I'm going to print out the history so I can give a guided tour as I walk.....It was Hunts creek and our drinking water in the beginning of the settlement of Parramatta....information is on the parramatta history page on the internet. This is a must do for all ages.....
What a lovely hidden little bit of paradise this place is! I went for a walk around the area and thought it was so peaceful and pretty. Lots of birdlife and plenty of mature gum trees to marvel at. I didn't go to the cafe as it was closed.
Great spots for picnicing or having happy hour in summer. Quite spots and nice lake views. Pleasant walks around the lake.
Parramatta Lake is actually an old reservoir that is no longer used. It's very popular at Weekends. It had BBQ areas, public toilets and a café.There are a range of walks around the lake, with a large map posted up near the café in the car park.O often go there to walk around the lake circuit that has some stunning vantage points along the way.
I love going to the reserve. Finding it is tricky but once you get there it is lovely. Nice lake. Usually lots of ducks of different types on the lake and happy for you to feed them (very exciting for little kids). Playground area up the top of the park area and covered areas with big tables for family picnics. Nice cafe on the grounds which serves nice basic meals and good coffee. Pleasant staff.the Reserve is a natural gem in a pretty busy part of sydney.
This is a popular park in Parramatta with the locals, and people come from all around to picnic here, ride their bike and walk around the park.On Saturday and Sunday mornings you can regularly see bicyclists, walkers, runners, families having picnics and friends having a game or two of cricket or soccer. Take a picnic rug and enjoy this vast parkland. Because it's so vast, there's plenty of space for everyone.
I don't think a lot of people other than locals know this place exists. Having grown up in North Parramatta the lake holds memories from my childhood. It is a lovely bushland lake reserve with picnic areas and BBQs. People also use it as a venue for children's birthday parties. A lot quieter during the week.
