Even though its kind of far, you will love the ride in "brujitas" and the falls...
We went to this attraction expecting a trail full of scenery and some sort of theme. There were vague mentions online and by word of mouth that there was some fantasy theme here (fairies, dwarves, witches, etc). There was none of that, but frankly it was not part of the attraction to me.Still, the trail itself left much to be desired. It was easy enough to complete for anyone in even OK shape, but it mostly just kept you pushing along up somewhat steep hills to what seemed to mostly abritrarily marked "attractions." Outside of the trout pond, the butterfly reserve and a couple lookouts, there is really not much noteworthy on the 24-attraction trip. The whole thing took us about ninety minutes. We pushed hard at times but also took breaks and chilled out at a couple spots. The trail is a little iffy in spots, especially if it has rained recently. Expect to beat your shoes up for sure. The restaurant is pleasant with fresh trout, pure honey and other products. Still, the whole thing is pretty far out of the way. To get a cabbie to take us, wait and bring us back was over $50 and 45 minutes each way. Further, the road leading up to the place is under construction and difficult to drive on, adding to the schlep factor. I would not really recommend this attraction, there are better views, better trails, better butterfly reserves and quite simply better uses of your time in and around Cali.
Nirvana is a tranquil and beautiful place to visit. The walk around the reserve takes you through many varieties of tropical plants, pretty flowers, colourful butterflies and natural wildlife including the Barranquero bird. There are amazing views over Cali and Palmira and the atmosphere is friendly and peaceful with excellent customer service and delicious food at the restaurant. The trout and plantain we ordered was cooked perfectly. There is also a butterfly house with butterflies in all stages of the life cycle. This is a lovely day trip from Palmira or Cali. Would love to visit again.
Beautifully cared for plantings of Heliconias and other local plants in a jungle-like garden, and magnificent sancocho a grilled FRESH trout on the menu.
