We saw the play "Diligent River Daughter". It was well written and delivered by a strong cast. I have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
The Ship's Co. is a fully professional company. Whatever they put on stage will engage you one hundred percent. They are not just a summer theatre but a regional theatre that produces its work during the summer, so you can expect the full run of theatrical offerings from music to comedy to drama. This years offerings, Dark of the Moon and Our Eliza have been exceptional.
Saw the "Fiddles and Feet" concert on August 11, 2014. So glad that worked this concert into our tour of Nova Scotia. It was worth the trip to Parrsboro (stayed at The Maple Inn, ate at The Porchlight Restaurant and visited FORCE). Fun fiddle music, step dancing and singing. Quite a variety of quality entertainment by talented NS musicians.
This is a truly lovely, well-designed, little theatre in a beautiful setting. I work in theatre in London (U.K.), and can attest that the production values and performances at the Ship's Company match what we get over here, but for a much cheaper ticket price. If you are visiting Halifax, it is worth a trip out overnight to Parrsboro - plus you get to see some spectacular scenery.
The concert ..tribute to the OUTLAWS by the Divorcees FANTASTIC..a real good band ..perfect place ....
It is difficult to rate one production as of course they are changing, but with this theatre you can be sure of a great, well produced presentation, and usually one with a local or regional connection.Today it was Dark of the Moon, a tale from the rum running days. It is a great show and on a beautiful Sunday afternoon we met several people who were out for a drive and when they realized there was a matinee, they came for the show.
We were very impressed by this talented and highly professional theatre company and by their charming little theatre. The play we saw, "Making Contact", was excellent!
We went to the theatre both nights we were in Parrsboro. The first night was a ceiligh-type concert with Fiddles & Feet & was wonderful. The second night we saw a play, Our Eliza. It was well acted but a dark drama,.
Parrsboro's best kept secret. If you love theatre you'll love this gem. Great plays, great acting. Saw Newfoundland story Eliza. Well done.
I usuallly see a play at the Ship's Company Theatre each summer. I have never been disappointed. It is a lovely atmosphere. The staff have alsways been very friendly and accommodating. If you go on Sunday the show starts at 2 p.m which gives you lots of time for a lovely lunch in the village.
