Even if you have little intentions to purchase something at the Penticton Farmer's Market, at the end I always leave with a bag or two with locally grown produce. Organic or not it's mostly fresh and grown by local farmers. Why should I buy at the superstore, when I can buy here with local musicians and dancers and often having a coffee in one of the Main Street's coffee shop and observe the river of people flowing by. Worth while checking it out.
We were pleasantly surprised to see this market when we walked out of our hotel Saturday morning. The Penticton Farmer's Market is set up every Saturday along Main Street and it's a real treat.Hundreds of vendors with everything you could want - fresh fruit, vegetables, crafts, carvings, clothing and more.Ensure you give yourself 1-2 hours to browse and enjoy the atmosphere. We will stop by again next time we're in Penticton!
Saturday mornings in Penticton must include a stop at the farmers market on Main Street. Wonderful home grown/cooked/made/crafted items worth getting up early for.
many great vendors great produces and artisans. You can find everything you need.We found a booth with rare spices and blends from alep pepper to zathar and everything in between, worth to check out when you are visiting the market
I am amazed at how much, of almost anything you can find at this market! From organic fruits and vegetables, or canned jams and salsa while listening to very talented musicians, to food from almost any country you can imagine. To clothing, or wood work, crafts and jewelry... You will be surprised! Make sure you have a few hours, as you cannot see it all quickly! I tell all our visitors that they need to check out Penticton on Saturday morning!
The Okanagan is a major producer of fruits and vegetables in BC. Plus it has a strong organic community. Combine that with the natural beauty, warm weather, local artisans, yummy food wagons, musicians and you have the perfect recipe. A wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning. For you serious food shoppers you must get there for 8:30 as the top notch or rare treats go fast. The food market is concentrated at the north end between Lakeshore road and Westminster/Front Street. There is something there for everyone!
Ok, I can't remember the place where I purchased the blueberry pie but OMG, I enjoyed every bite. I am a pie maker and the crust was excellent. A big thing with pies! There were frozen drinks, food trucks and vendors, crafters and craft supplies and wineries! Fun for both the adults and kids.
I love Farmer's Markets and this one is great. With a good selection and variety, there should be something for everyone. Try the deep fried spiral potato on a stick, it's delicious!
Really enjoyed the market this past sat. I like the way the venue is separated by farm/craft/foods and the newly added wine section. Well done Penticton, I spent some $$$ at your lovely market.
It is 3-4 blocks long and offers amazing samples of WINE-- a whole block! some breads, meats and veggies & fruits. I had only wished they were selling local cheeses too. Had a blast at the Farmer's Market in Penticton
