This place has seeing better days. Not very much to see. If we had not of visited during their feeding times (2pm and 11am) it would have taken us literally 20 minutes to see everything- that's not anunderstatment! Staff member doing to the feeding was very passionate. Entry of $20 was waypoints high - sorry!
Had a couple of hours to kill before ferry to Wellington so went to the Picton aquarium located close to the terminal. It was quite cool actually - not a big place so took my time. The guide was some tall dude - Jordy (?) and he really seemed to know his stuff and, added with a bit of dry wit, made it quite interesting/entertaining. Well worth the visit - make sure you give yourself the time either before/after the ferry for this place.

Great place to come when you have kids, make sure you come at feeding time and have a guide with you as he is brilliant. I like the way the kids are able to touch the tuatara and the turtle, also its great to see the two penguins they are looking after. Lots of things to look at but its only a small place so dont expect to be therefor ages. Allow an hour. A little old but its clean. Good value for money

HiThank you or your review. I am sorry that we did not give you a better experience. To be honest the day you visited was our busiest day of the year, 31 December 2014. We were overwhelmed by the unexpected number of visitors. We should have been clearer with our instructions at admissions but there was such an overwhelming flood of visitors.NB. If you are visiting again please identify yourself and we would be pleased to give you a Close Encounters Tour and a Behind the Scenes tour with our compliments.People trying to get into the cinema for free was an issue that day but we now have different arrangements in place. With more than 40,000 visitors a year and as Marlborough's most visited paid for visitor attraction we know from the personal feedbacks and from the many positive comments in our visitors book that the conservation and education work we are doing is appreciated by our visitors and we deliver great value for money. However we failed with you on this occasion. We look forward to hosting you again.John ReuhmanDirector
The attraction of this shabby- feeling facility was our experience with tour guide Regan. He spoke knowledgeably about the animals and showed compassion for even the lowliest creatures in his care. He rehabilitates cast-off creatures like turtles that had been mistreated or neglected. We were thrilled to be able to gently pet a Tuatara and learn about the habits and life cycle of these rare reptiles. He brought out penguins that were in need of some TLC for us to watch as they fed and frolicked in the big pool. They will be released back into the wild when they are healed.
